Known as “The Garden of France,” the Loire Valley is France’s most exquisite wine region. Winding between vibrant cities, charming small towns, and illustrious castles is the Loire River—the longest in France and the lifeblood of the surrounding vineyards. From crisp Muscadet to fruity rosés, savory Chenin Blanc to floral Cabernet Franc, and aromatic Sauvignon Blanc to lively Gamay, this diverse and authentic region will change the way you think about what French wine can be!

DESCRIPTION: We’ll start our journey to the beautiful Loire Valley in the city of Nantes near the Atlantic coast. After seeing the massive robotic animals at the Les Machines de l’Île and chatting about Loire’s history and geography, we’ll have lunch at one of the prettiest Brasseries in France, La Cigale. I meet winemaker Francois Lieubeau to drink some beautiful Cru Muscadet wines and pair them with local seafood. Next, no trip to Loire is complete without seeing the stunning Châteaux, or castles, of the region. I’ll teahc your about the grapes of Loire, including the white grape Chenin Blanc and the red grape Cabernet Franc, and what flavors to expect from each. After that, we head to the Anjou-Saumur area to drink some rosé at Leduc-Frouin, including some Cabernet d’Anjou and Rosé d’Anjou. In the same area, I stop at Château de Brissac, meet the Duke there, and go exploring in the castle exploring all it’s nooks and crannies. Venturing further into Loire, I head to the Bourgueil region and meet Francois of Masion Audebert et Fils to drink 3 Cabernet Francs: a Chinon, a Saint-Nicholas-de-Bourgueil, and a Bourgueil. Then, we grab lunch at the homey restaurant Le Moulin Blue and drink a few more vintage Bourgueil wines that blow my mind! After exploring the gardens with my wife Lisa at Chaumont-sur-Loire, I head to Vouvray, the famous area known for Chenin Blanc in all different styles! There I meet Celine Champalou from Domaine Champalou and try 5 different Chenin Blancs, including a sweet style that is pretty life changing! Afterwards, I go fishing on the Loire River before having dinner at La Cabane à Matelot with Lisa, tasting some perfect seafood dishes with ingredients from the Touraine area. Finally, Lisa and I bike along the river and end our Loire adventure!

  1. Beautiful region as other parts of France,Nantes where i was born and now im in the other side in Metz Moselle . Good job !

  2. I look forward to watch the episode. I fell in love with Loire’s wines during a trip there.

Thanks again Vince for the episode. I love your show, I learn a lot and have a lot of fun.
You are the reason I got into Riais Baixas and Oregon wines 🤩

    Cheers from Belgium!!

  3. I love the bond movie where Sean Connery recognized the Soviet spy when he ordered red with fish….

  4. Great video Vince! Brought back lots of great memories when I got to visit Tours, Vouvray, Chinon and Champalou back in 2015-16. Thanks

  5. i feel exactly the same about if i had to pick one region , it would be teh loire, i guess if i had to pick one reason over the many, it is the aromatics. this video made me cry many times, , in a good way. merci beaucoup

  6. Great episode (as always), the Loire is also my favorite wine region, somewhat underrated outside France

  7. Not me tearing up at the outro 😭.Vince (and team) I hope that you all are proud of what you have built and are still building.

Fantastic episode. Can't wait for what's next!

  8. Fantastic episode and the Loire is my favorite region in the world for wine. I agree with you that Muscadet may be the perfect companion for shellfish. If I am not having Muscadet with oysters, I'm usually having Albarino.

I'm also all about those Chenins from Anjou and Montlouis-Sur-Loire

  9. As a French, I must say you are doing the greatest work on Youtube when it comes to wine region's discovering videos!! Thank you very much for showing the diversity of terroirs and the talent of our winemakers who face so much challenges nowadays.. You should be paid by the government lol!!
Many thanks again, really appreciate this video, and the Burgundy one also!!

  10. Hey Vince! I Would love to share my experience watching this video.

So, im a bit short on time & was skimming through, to when I found you with the lady after fishing (cerca 53:00) And then, just listening to your interaction about "whether or not you caught this fish, & if you deserve credit" I thought to myself – "wow.. they have a good chemistry. Is she a wine maker / vinyard owner that he's hitting it off with? Dont know. Maybe. I wonder if he has a partner … " etc etc

Anyway, of course then I watched it back proper and learned it was your partner!

I share this to highlight the, sort of.. 'natural' relaxed, comfortable chemistry that you two have, and I hope you take this as a compliment.

I once had a moment like this with my partner in an Airport, where the staff asked us if we were a couple.. and we we're like, yeah why? And she said "You just look like a couple, as in, you look like a match"

Sometimes these are lifes moments and thought Id share 🙂

Im a racing driver coach and my partner supports me in my work the same as I can see yours does with you 🙂

  11. I’d love to see a video documenting how you got into the wine world and how you were able to start v is for vino and get the opportunities you have done. Your channel has gotten me incredibly interested in wine and I’d love to see how you did it so maybe I could have some experiences like these as well. What do you lot think though ? 😁

  12. Hi, few more videos like this and Burgundy one and am surely gonna be Vincaholic;) Cheers from Hungary Zoltan

  13. What an incredible episode!!!, love the Loire Valley and Tours is amazing, love that city. Thanks V is for Vino for taking me back there. Cheers!

  14. Loire is so underrated, which is perfect because theres plenty of it that is still affordable and excellent lmao

My friends who are very casual wine enjoyers really loved the off-dry Vouvray i brought to a party.

  15. Great intro to Loire. It was a really sweet touch to introduce your wife and partner in this way. Maybe you two will continue to explore? She as an avatar to an audience? Anyway, well done and thank you very much for sharing all of your information!🎉❤ 🍷

  16. So Loire gave us amazing wines, castles, AND sustainability? Can we talk about how ahead of its time this place is? 🌱🍷

  17. This was an absolutely stunning episode! First and foremost, you spent time in a wonderful region with your wife. That by itself can make any travel or visit a blessing. Second: Loire!!! Seeing the views and landscapes and getting to know more about a region with so much history but less nobility (at least to some people) with so many offerings in wine makes me wonder why Loire isn’t in the same level as Bordeaux or Burgundy? Let’s get our hands and arms full of those beautiful wines! Vince, you rule!

  18. This is a great video, that can stand on its own on any travel channel. Production quality is superb. And so is the content.
