it depends what your family traditions are such as feast of the 7 fishes on Christmas eve
Thanks to posts like this, we've decide to take a dive in history this years Christmas dinner. And ordered a goose instead of a turkey. While on New Year's eve, a glazed ham will be the main dish. No calorie counting and healthy foods this time. It should be a festive dinner, not a diet. The health freaks have been warned and better stay home if the menu doesn't suit them. A crown is still pretty often served in my country, but the binding is usually done by the butcher. And opposite to the America's, pork is the popular meat over here. Followed by chicken. Beef consumption is usually limited to steak, stews and minced meat. I like to make beef ribs in the slow cooker now and then. But have to order them ahead at the butcher store. Because they're not available otherwise. Pork ribs used to be a cheap cut. Until American BBQ ribs became a hit over here. After which the price for a rack of pork ribs quadrupled 😒
