Tops Diner is an iconic diner located in East Newark, New Jersey. They’re famous for their Disco Fries, – a mountain of fries smothered in rich brown gravy and topped with melted mozzarella cheese.
It’s a bit like Canadian poutine, but with mozzarella instead of cheese curds, and it’s delicious.

The Disco Fries are in the appetizer section of the menu, but I’m warning you. If you’re getting the fries as an appetizer you might not be able to eat your main, or any other meal for the rest of the week, because the portion is huge.
We also had the French Dip with rib-eye, aged provolone, caramelized onions, and creamy horseradish sauce in a French baguette with jus on the side to dip it in. It was really, really good!
