I was drinking red wine with a new york city guy
At the terrace in a café in Paris my hometown
We talked and laughed for hours
The clock was ticking so fast
He recited French prayers
His face changed with the night
I couldn’t kiss him but my song will kiss him many times

We had a lovely journey down on memory lane
The only French words he knew were « jolie mademoiselle »
I was swimming so deep in his smiling eyes
I couldn’t figure why
My heart was beating like that
I touched his hand once but I wish oh I wish I did it twice

Maybe we were soul mates from another space and time
Or maybe it’s the bottles of that juicy Pinot Noir
His conversation sure was sweet
Yet extreme at the same time
But I could read his lips
They were telling no lies
His soul touched my heart but I couldn’t hold him in my arms
