  3. I took freaking five years of French. Went to France and crashed and burned. Native speakers swallow those words to the point I'm just like ??? Then again, we do a lot of that with English, so I don't know how the hell anyone learns new languages enough to understand anything,

  5. I always tell the story about my college level French language class, where there were about 20 students and the teacher showed us some generic movies of everyday life intended to show "natural" and "normal" speech. No problem we thought. THE VERY FIRST SCENE had two people talking to each other in a parking lot and it was incomprehensible. The teacher then asked us, "You can't understand ?" YES, all twenty of us said. We listened again… then again… with no luck. You couldn't even use context to figure it out. Finally we listened a 4th time and the teacher went person by person asking, "What did you hear?"
No of us could get it, and we were trying very hard. When the teacher gave up and told us. The whole class said, "No that is not what they are saying at all."
The whole room would not accept that what we heard and what the teacher said it was were anywhere close to the same. The teacher was flummoxed.

I'm sorry, when 20 College level French students with a French teacher watching a French movie, in a French school in France cannot even guess at the content of the first lines of a movie… there is something wrong with the language.

  6. Sometimes, young people don't say "pas ( pa)" but say "ap" cause we love to revers word. So we sometimes say "Ché Ap"
