The Michelin stars are the highest award a chef could possibly win. Receiving 3 is something the vast majority of chefs will never achieve, so what would make a chef want to give them up? Well, let’s dive into the character that is Marco Pierre White, and what exactly drove him to give up his 3 Michelin stars at the height of his career.

  1. Thank you. 😢 We really wish to share our experience and ideas. But, we can't. I'm speaking as a passionate CDP. We just cant. We just have to follow the rules. I just learned to leave work as i walk out of the door. Which is quite sad.

  2. I Love MP Cooking talking Thinking Opinions He is a Real SANE Truthful Honest Person and does not have to tell you anything but does Good One MP and does his Best and tries to do Better than His Best was in the past.

  3. Many of the critics you see on TV are idiots and don’t have a bloody clue….it’s their opinion not judgement!

  4. "I don't need those stars to be Marco anymore. When I was young, they were me. They were my personality"

I draw the same parallel with me and my military service. When I was younger, it was my personality. But I don't need my stripes anymore. My rank, career, tenure, achievements, whatever you want to see, it remains behind me, but it remains.

It reminds me of a time when some of my buddies were all in civilian clothes (plain clothes) and one of the buddies addressed another buddy by his rank. To which he promptly replied "I do not answer to my slave name"

I have held on to that moment for almost 2 decades now.

  5. On another note, food and cost of operation is getting so ludicrously high, it's not even worth stepping out the door if you have basic cooking knowledge/experience.

It is criminally insane to pay 400% mark up for boil in bag meals served by students.

  6. I love how a tire company created a marketing campaign that led into being considered the peak award of chefs.

  7. Notice how his fame dropped off after that and Ramsey starting taking centre stage? It's cos Marco upset the status quo and made a ripple in the illusion. Standards agencies are a part of this illusion. He caused people to question the legitimacy of Michellen Stars which ia supposed to be the agency that grades food in such a way. In essense it means Michellen are not now and have never been fit to judge this stuff, but the people who make money from fine dining and michellen stars wouldnt like that, and this stuff is world wide so they'll hold some power.

More than that it also brings into question other agencies. If this agency that was supposed to grade food was full of shit, then maybe all of them are? It's things like this that cause ripples in the illusion that does threaten western society, and the rich/powerful try to hide it quietly. This is why Macro would be given less screen time and phased out of the public eye and this work given to someone much more compliant; Ramsey.

  8. 6 days a week 16 hours a day is genuinely just a chef schedule. Not trying to be a dick but that doesn't make him special. Most chefs are doing around this. Some even do the 7th day.
I've been a chef. Worst job I ever had.

  9. Yea, man reaches the top of the top of cheffing and realises it fucking sucks. Im happy i gave that up early. I'm an engineer now. Suits me way better.

I trained for around a year as a proper chef, and i just remember my last day being so fucking busy and we ran out of chip, so I had to go to the freezer and get more. I remember walking into the freezer, closing the door behind me, putting my head against the ice (the kitchen is fucking hot) and thinking "fuck this". I finished my shift, i took my knives home, called the head chef and said i won't be coming in anymore. He said "you can't do that", and i said "watch me.", and now im an engineer 🤷🏻‍♂️

  10. I have respect for this man. He broke the norm and wouldn't let others who he knew were the same as him define his life.

  11. Fuck the michelin stars, and the chefs, that think, they can achieve perfection . Return to the origins

  12. I just saw this guy now ever know he existed, now he is calm like after the storm, his show is very nice, i guess he has won from his inner demon, plus gordon was his bitch, he made him cry, and said "he chose to cry". Damn, thats hardcore. But i dont support this kind of attitude to food and life. Both need to be enjoyed.

  13. I never knew this of him. I would see some videos of him cooking using some basic stocks or bullion cubes from a sponsor and think that he was lazy or sold out. I get it now. I got his life back and still was making a better experience for his audience. I will go look for his videos to watch now.

  14. He is not actually a really good cook…. I have seen his tomatoes sauce and it's actually terrible, my 12 year old son can do better….

  15. A brilliant man, a real rock star in the world of "haute cuisine"! he simply tore up the template created by incompetent critics. bravo!

  16. "I can inspire people by doing tv. I can inspire mothers togo an buy better produce and learn to cook and give their children better food".

    That is wonderful.

  17. I can understand the environment, as a doctor 24 hours of duty, 7 days a week…. At least there are no critics to review my work.
