As a french, it's funny for me to see this. Those actors à not french, the way they speak french, we can ear an accent. And, why the well always talking about the guillotine and Louis XVI ? History of France is not all about the Revolution and guillotine. And this anecdote is wrong : guillotine was used for the first time in 1792, Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette was already defeated. But I like this movie anyway. 🙂

If she already knew French, why did she wait until that moment to use it? 🙂
To avoid making a scene.
Because Tara, she would have been over stepping her bounds.

Great movie.
I am reminded, somehow, of "The Addams Family", and what happened when Morticia spoke French.
Annette Benning was, is and will always be a beautiful, elegant, sophisticated, classy and sexy woman. Nobody can deny these facts.

What are the chances the President would have a state dinner for the Prime Minister of France and NOT have someone who speaks French
"The next time Julius Caesar comes to town, you're our gal."….Too danged funny. 😀
Neither Sydney nor the french president have convincing french accents.
