  1. You know, pineapples are also a symbol of welcome. Thus, if it's not already, having pineapple-shaped grenades will probably soon be a war crime. Everything else already is.

  2. I've thrown grenades nothing more scary than your first time handling one while your instructor tells you to pull pin and not throw till he tells me to throw all the while I'm waiting holding on with a death grip for dear life waiting for 5 others to throw he's casually saying the word throw in reference to everyone else but me and me trying not to throw at a false start and when it was my turn I didn't care how far it went I just tried getting rid of it and it probably only landed 10 yards on the other side of the wall.

  3. When the government rated Richard Jewels' home and said they found a deactivated explosive device it was an old Mark 1 grenade sitting on a wooden plaque with a number one on its pin and a plaque that says complaint department please take a number

  4. I love the implication that the reason French grenades were shaped like wine bottles is because the average Frenchman had lots of experience throwing wine bottles far and accurately.

  5. I have heard the French were amazed at how well American doughboys threw grenades while training them in WWI.

  6. I always find it interesting how Europeans train their their soldiers how to use grenades. Where the US trains uses sports to train soldiers How to use grenades.

  7. My great grandpa got a silver star for throwing a grenade through the opening of a pillbox from a good distance while fighting in Italy. He said the machine gun started raking down his friends so he stood, wound up, and threw a strike. He credited his experience as a semi-pro pitcher for most of the 1930s for the throw. He had no idea how the machine guns bullets didn’t hit him.

  8. The pineapple is the one foreigners like me usually associate the americans with when it comes to grenades

  9. I don't care if others don't like it, But I like the stick grenade the Germans used. It was much easier to throw, and could be thrown much longer.

  10. Mhm. It's reterritorialisation of the political apparatus. Fortunately for the rest of us, Hitler became increasingly distrustful of everyone as the war went on, even in his death, he specifically refused the pill because he thought Himmler gave him a "more painful" dose. Goofy fucking guy.

  11. The football idea is not bad cause American grenades are thrown with a spiral like a football.

  12. I did not know that Thatcher's grenade from rainbow six siege was based on a real grenade

  13. What? The MK2 was the standard during WW2? Where are the photos, I literally just learned that they exist and I watched the crap out of any WW2 documentary and never ever saw it anywhere!

  14. and being round they also roll on the ground, wichvadds a bit of unpredictability.

  15. It's sad when good concepts get ruined by bad design. We see this all over technology. We missed out on a bunch of cool tech in the past because the designers were not good engineers or manufacturers.
