We discuss what Cognac is, including that it is a brandy named after the Cognac region in France, has a Geographical Indication (GI) so it can only be produced in that region, is made from multiple grape varieties with 98% being Ugni Blanc , must be distilled in specific copper pot stills, and has to be aged for at least 2 years in new French oak or other oak casks that carries wine or a wine based product .
