  1. FYI Historically, potato was and still is seen as the premium starch used to make vodka due to the vanillas, nutty flavors and creamy mouth feel while grains apart from Rice and Rye generally don't confer as much flavors as Potato. The whole stigma of vodka having no flavor is because of those generally neutral grains and starches like wheat and corn. Also the note about distillation isn't true due to it really not doing anything in service of the spirit past 3 times.. in fact you'll find plenty of trash vodka that is very up front about being distilled 7-10 times. The note about water and filtration is correct at least!

  2. Just had a blue weber agave vodka. It was definitely different. Alot of agave funk while still being vodka and not tequila. I liked it. That Belvedere is really nice, even for sipping.

  3. It's not really how many times it's distilled so much as how it is distilled. Poor distillation techniques and wider cuts mean more heads and tails make it into the end product. It makes it cheaper because more product from less labour, but running it through a still 20 times won't really improve the quality over something run twice if the cuts are bad or the wrong type of still is used.

  4. I don't think anyone truly consumes vodka and is concerned about them health. Red wine sure, tequila sometimes, but vodka never.

  5. DONT BUY GREY GOOSE, that thing is so bad, i always go belvedere for higher quality vodkas

  6. Icl stoli is the best value vodka u can get. Bout the same as ketel 1 imo but same price (if not cheaper) as Smirnoff. Anything more expensive than ketel 1 is not worth it unless ur using it for a martini (even then I still like it or similar).

  7. So much wrong with this take. Keep it simple: just get a Polish vodka. Delicious and cheap with good ingredients and processes and minimal branding bs

  8. A couple years ago myself and several family members and friends did a vodka taste test to find a replacement for Russian Standard after the invasion of Ukraine. In order we preferred Khor (corn based), Belvedere (rye based), Tito's (also corn based), and then Grey Goose (wheat based). Khor and Belvedere were very close, and the former being from Ukraine may have had some influence lol. But I was surprised by how bad Grey Goose was by comparison. It had a really unpleasant chemical after taste.

  9. it makes absolutely no difference in order to be allowed to call it that, it has to be grain-based, whether it is high-quality grain or not is completely irrelevant because during distillation all the secondary components are filtered out anyway and the vodka is distilled to 90% and thus loses any of its own taste, less filtered vodka still has a certain taste of its own, which you may like or not, but what you drink is still ethanol with water
