Master chef and restaurateur Paul Liebrandt rates every fine dining scene from “The Bear” for realism.

Liebrandt breaks down restaurant operations and management in the first season of “The Bear,” starring Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edibiri, as the head chef and sous chef of The Original Beef of Chicagoland. The show also features Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Matty Matheson. He looks at the realism of opening and running The Bear restaurant in season two, including the process of staging and training the kitchen staff of a fine-dining restaurant. He mentions the real-life renowned chefs featured in the third season, such as Daniel Boulud, Thomas Keller, and René Redzepi, while also connecting his personal experiences as a Michelin-star chef and restaurateur.

Liebrandt has been a chef for over 25 years and owned the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Corton in New York City. He also previously worked at the New York restaurants Atlas, Gilt, and Papillon. His book “To the Bone” is part cookbook and part memoir of his culinary experiences.

Michelin-Star Chef Rates Every Fine Dining Scene From ‘The Bear’ | How Real Is It? | Insider

  1. I need a Bear level show for all professions at this point, imagine getting to peek behind the curtain of every type of work place.

  2. I know it's French but calling it gelée to make it sound a little fancier makes me laugh 🤣🤣 like, girl, that's just jelly 🤣🤣🤣

  3. I work in a restaurant kitchen currently, and I say The Bear is accurate. Especially when he said the kitchen is dangerous. I had to get a half sleeve tattooed to cover the burns and knife scars in there and you barely notice it

  4. I have heard how great of a show The Bear was but didn’t really watch it until a few weeks ago. I binged watch all episodes for a couple of days.

I would have never imagined how much effort is put into making a single dish.

  5. 15 seconds into the video and I'm already annoyed at high end food going to waste as standard procedure, *for aesthetics*.

  6. This guy definitely has like three different styles of messenger bags in his closet.

  7. It makes me wonder if the writers wrote lines for these professional chefs or did they just asked them to just teach and share their wisdom? That scene with Thomas Keller is one of my favourites from the most recent season!

  8. One of my best friends is a chef in NYC. When The Bear first appeared, he texted me and told me to watch it because it was "real." Glad he did!

  9. 3:17 That's why when I play team games online I flame my team at the end of the match if we lose, so they don't start trolling harder or quitting midgame…. during the match I encourage them, lol

  10. What an amazing video, I trained as a chef (not on his level) but its all true. Most stressful job i ever had but taught me so many lessons, not just culinary but about life and it made me a man.
