  1. Would love to hear your thoughts on Batailley, quickly followed by Haut Batailley, compare and contrast.

  2. About time you did this you sneaky person , LOLOL , have you tried any of the big " Ls " ? or even a Montrose ? , they were my first entries when I was younger , saying that they all cost the price of a chateau themselves these days , beautiful wines but most will baulk at having to sell their children for the price of a bottle , sad that it is , way to expensive , even the super seconds and those cost your soul !

  3. Great episode! I am a fan of Pomerol and Lalande de Pomerol, hoping you find time to visit. Petrus would be impressive to watch.

  4. I think among the very first impressions I got when I started to learn about wine was to stay away from Bordeaux. Overrated and overpriced seemed to be the refrain. Big marketing machine for snobs. And I did for the first couple years, but I'm still curious of course and have started to dip my toe (in Bordeaux wine!). I'll be following the segment with interest.
PS: How are you going to afford this Agnese? You may have to sell your horror paraphernalia.

  5. this classification and the fact that they still abide by this nonsense is what defines and makes French best at…. marketing😅

  6. Excited to see this series!
I'm biased towards the 2nd growths which I am currently interested in: Pichon Lalande, Leoville Las Cases, Cos d'Estournel, or Ducru Beaucaillou.

  7. Great idea. I don't care which one. I will follow along and perhaps try the ones you like the best. Look forward to the series

  8. paldies, Agnese. my suggestion for your first stop in the crus classés is the first grand cru classé from Bordeaux I have ever tried: Cantenac Brown. in 2022 I opened a 2012 bottle and it was… heaven. it was the bottle that finally made me (a Barolo and Burgundy fanboy) understand what Bordeaux can actually be. my then-girlfriend was also delighted by that bottle.

I can't say that 60 euro is something budget-friendly but with all this inflation, it's still somewhat affordable to have the odd indulgence.

  9. Nice video! Good story too. As far as what to try on the Bordeaux channel, Work north to south and classification…first growth, Lafite, mouton, latour, margaux then haut-brion……. Cheers.

  10. Well, Château Giscours is a good choice. I would also propose Château Kirwan which I think ist still a valid 3rd growth and reasonably priced. I had the 2020 and I liked the aroma of violets, but I think the 2022 is even better! Château Pontet-Canet is worth more than a 5ème grand cru classé (from 2014 on stunning, only the 0217 is not very good (but at least good). Chäteau Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2022 is a cruel bargain at current prices. Château Haut-Batailley (e.g. 2019) would also be a good choice or Château d'Issan Margaux 2022. I think that many 2022s are a very promising investment!

  11. You're first growth Agnese❤ you deserve all the great vintages in your cellar of the 5 1st growth Bordeaux chateaus! 🍷🍷

  12. Wow, what a great idea…First estate to feature – for me it would have to be Ch. Batailley as I have been following that estate since the 1980's, alternatively I would suggest Leoville Barton as that is another of my long-tern favorites. I am really looking forward to the first in the series, whatever chateau you decide to feature.

  13. I would recommend collect German wines. There's not all colors available but what they do, is quality

  14. I would start with the 5th growths and work my way up. I think it lends more to the surprises that the lower growth classifications are offering, with a comparison to some of the higher growths. GREAT IDEA!! Looking forward to it!!

  15. For left bank: Chateau Palmer is a favorite, and Calon-Segur isn’t talked about enough. For Right bank: La Conseillante and Valandruad

  16. It’s pictured in your videos, Cos d Estrournel, spent a bonus on 2014 futures. They are still sleeping. Also any of the Leovills.

  17. Pichon Lalande would be a nice start. And as it happens, my personal favourite haha. I really enjoyed the 2016 vintage, still a young wine but very delicious 😊
