Join our intrepid history reporter, Tracey Tooley, on her case to uncover England’s most infamous monarch, King Henry VIII!
In this episode, Tracey visits Hampton Court Palace to find out how Henry VIII was able to project his power amongst his countrymen and international rivals.
Tracey interviews irascible household cook, Cuthbert Blagden and a sensitive Sergeant of the Cellar, Richard Hill, to learn about the scale of Henry’s lavish entertaining. Venetian Ambassador, Sebastian Giustinian, gives us the lowdown on Tudor fashion and Tracey reflects on Henry’s portraits, to understand the grandiose image Henry wished to portray.
Filmed on location at Hampton Court Palace, England. This series has been specifically designed as a school learning resource to support teachers and students studying Henry VIII and the Tudors as part of the England & Wales Key Stage Three syllabus.
