The fictional character of jesus in the fictional last supper is not wearing a headpiece and is not male. There were 17 people in one image before the blue man appeared which meant there was 18 minimum. All religions should be openly mocked but this was not mocking any religion sadly.

Thank you for the complete description of the opening ceremony. I felt that the symbolism was missed by the casual viewer. One cannot be aware of every possible interpretation of an artistic presentation. Those wishing to be offended will find it regardless of the subject matter.
Good video Dr Grande. I am torn here, I am Transgender AND Christian, but my thought is, that the scene was crass, if not intending to be offensive . There are better ways of promoting our cause, and offending folks is NOT the way to go about it. What you should also remember though Dr Grande, is that there are a LOT of Transphobic people, and if it had not been this scene, they would have still complained that they were there at all as they do not consider us as people.

it seems that they are trying to coverup by saying blue man is greek mythology, there is no resemblance. there is, however, much more disturbing resemblance – a body.
In the Bible, Jesus refers to bread as his body during the Last Supper. Jesus says, "Take it; this is my body" after breaking bread and giving it to his disciples.
So in this deeply disturbing mockery of Last Supper, they went much further then you realize /: the blue man is basically a blue corps, a body that they about to eat, and some cheese to go with it.

Jolly work shows a shocking lack of respect for Christianity and its history, and he does not hesitate to ridicule religious beliefs. You missed that this is not political at all, nor is it offense or about the fundamentalist American Christians who so clearly mistook this for their Golden Calf known as DaVinci's "The Last Supper." The inspiration was a blend of French culture and Greek Mythology, exactly the type of artistic performance they are supposed to create for the opening ceremony. The inspiration was one of several Renaissance paintings, one by French painter Van Giljert, depicting the Feast Of Dionysis and resembles them very much, with a modern French twist. Anyone who knows Greek Mythology and Renaissance artworks could recognize tbis immediately, but only American 'christians" are complaining…note that no Muslims countries are whining about it. In Europe and well beyond, people are taught history of the world, esp European Western developement. No one outside that sphere is upset…except a few mistaken Americans who automatically assume everything is about them…and in this case an idol they claim for themselves that was painted by a gay man (DaVinci) where he used his partner as his model for Jesus.
