036 This week we continue to make improvements to our little stonehouse. It’s not a complete remodel but, just some simple updates to make the kitchen a little more pretty.

We also drive an hour east and visit Stephanie and here gang of lovely humans at Chateau Lalande for their annual Patreon Days. This was a fantastic visit with such kind and a generous people. Thank you again to all the Lalanders for opening up their home and lives. We really enjoyed meeting you all!

We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

  1. I just find your approach so relatable in that you are making a beautiful, smart, rustic maison without lavish means,, simply good taste. That morning mist was a joy to contemplate. Hope France keeps on treating you well🌹🌺🌼

  2. This probably makes me the outlier, but I find the Chateau Diaries to be completely unwatchable. Everyone has their own taste, and I'm not going to bash Ms Jarvis as brutally like the thousands of detractors that despise her. But I'm sort of at a loss to understand how people send her cash, knowing just how much money she's raking in by making videos of herself sleeping until noon like a spoiled teenager. I'll just say that I'd watch your French Stonehouse channel over TCD any day of the week.

  3. Love Chateau Diary as well 😊
So glad you had a fun Patreon day.
The kitchen looks lovely as did that atmospheric misty day. Your garden looks great, so green and verdant 😊

  6. It's lovely to see you're making progress with your home, the kitchen looks lovely, fresh and clean and the shelves are a great addition. I also watch Stephanie every day, Chateau LaLande is amazing and the people who inhabit it are very special, glad you had a great day at their Patreon day and got to meet so many of the 'stars' of LaLande too. xxx

  9. You done a nice job on the walls it looks very rustic in keeping with the house and with the art it looks gorgeous. Yes, I’ve followed Chateau diaries with Stephanie from the very beginning. Also follow the “ Pethericks” Billy Petherick and Michael Petherick on “Doing it Ourselves” and a few other You tubers in France.

  10. Thanks for sharing your time at Lalande. I hope to go someday. New have yourself a new subscriber. 🦋

  11. How great is it that you only live an hour or so away from Lalande, making it possible to visit on Patron days!

I too am a fellow Patron of Lalande from ‘down under’ New Zealand and have had so much enjoyment from TCD from the beginning. At the moment I’m rewatching the older videos again whilst lazing around nursing a bad head cold – such a perfect excuse!!
IMO Stephanie must be one of THE most conscientious vloggers to her Patrons as well as her subscribers. I think the detractors don’t take into account that her editing and downloading seems to mostly be done at night and into the early and sometimes late hours of the morning.

I really like your new kitchen shelving and look forward to seeing more of your little stone house. I’m also very happy to like and subscribe to watch more of your videos.🙂

  12. I have stayed as a volunteer at Lalande a couple of times and can add that Stephanie, Philip, Amaury, Nati and Kirsty and Dan, Marie and everyone are such lovely people. Stephanie is such a special welcoming and hospitable person. She is also so talented as a story teller and presenter. I don’t live very far away but have some family illness that meant I couldn’t attend patreon day. I would love to see how the garden has progressed. I’m glad you had such a special day.

  13. I'm a huge fan too of TCD since the beginning. Loved your first video of your home as well. A new subsciber

  14. Anyone who says Chateau de La Lande is beautiful clearly has not visited France and its many astounding chateaux. La Lalande is falling apart despite its owner receiving 40k a month in patreon funds. So many chateaux have been restored beautifully with far smaller funds. And yet people keep sending money. The saying 'a fool and his money' springs to mind.

  15. Thank you for sharing your patreon day at La Lande. It looked truly special and a very memorable day. Your narration and kind words are very calming and soothing.

  16. Your kitchen is looking lovely. What an amazing opportunity to visit Lalande and meet the incredible people living and working in the chateau & gardens. I have followed Stephanie since the awful lockdown. ❤
