[Music] I’m going to close my eyes again and I’m going to reach forward to see what I can grab okay I’ve grabbed something no idea what it is I haven’t read the label yet it is Thompson brothers timore 14 French Oak California red wine cask full maturation 55.4% alcohol by volume nonch filtered and not colored wow Doner pass whiskey you have sent me quite some samples here I have not had an altimore I think in over 10 years yeah it’s been no let’s say 9 years 9 years or more since I had an altimore and I wasn’t all that Keen on it but this is another altimore so who knows I think the one I had was a 10-year-old ex bourban Cask only I found it to be weak I think it was pretty low ABV what 40% I forget it it’s been a long time in fact I could look it up but no I I’m I’m recording now I’m I’m gonna record now okay Thompson brothers timore 14 okay let’s give this a try shall we to start with a 5.4% alcohol whiskey and yes wine cask full maturation French Oak California red wine cask a French Oak California red wine cask okay that’s going to be interesting see if I can get my sniffer to work cuz it’s been kind of okay I definitely get the wine red wine cask influence it’s a bit yeasty it’s a bit caramelly and it’s fruity it’s dark ripe fruits figs dates raisins prunes not unpleasant at all and 14 years old that’s right in the sweet spot for you know maturation according to the way I enjoy whiskey if it’s older than 18 years old it’s too mow and cost too much if it’s younger than 10 years old it can be too feisty this is a balance 15 years 14 15 16 years is a good balance for the age of whiskey for me and from what I have experienced yeah this is a nice nose I’m really getting into it see now give it the old Anaconda treatment and what have we got oh larger droplets hanging onto the side some small ones some larger ones no legs to speak of I think I wash the glasses too well for there to be legs nothing sticks everything sheets right down only drops stick legs don’t I’m getting a bit of a hint of ginger don’t know where that came from but it’s there yep definite hint to Ginger so far I like it let me cleanse my palette it’s not too long since I had my breakfast breakfast being the last meal of my day because I work nights I came back from work uh finished work three hours ago I’m just relaxing now and what better way to relax than with a nice drum a 14-year-old timore oh oh this is good and intense dark ripe fruits spicy from the French Oak very nice spicy spicy cask and red wine French Oak French Oak is uh a different different kind of Oak it’s it’s uh spicier and does it ever coat the mouth oh now I’m getting a bit of a mushroom note a bit of a fungus could that be Rano or whatever they call it not too much though just a little bit oh it’s quite a Str inent too and yeah towards the end I get that spicy spicy french Oak maybe I’m also getting some white pepper creeping in there definitely some white pepper creeping in there with the French Oak oh my eyes now there’s an idea let’s try with a little bit of water that’s just a bit just take a bit of the harshness out it’s not that it’s very harsh I wonder if it will take some of the spice away from the uh French Oak influence for oh if anything the water has awakened it and brought out a more intense flavor than I was getting before while the French Oak is not quite as spicy the fruits the dark ripe fruits brought on by the wine is a lot more intense than it was before curious the nose is darker now than it was before I added water small sips well wow I’m still getting the spice from the French Oak it’s all in the finish the mouth is coated inside with Dark fruits all over and the spiciness on the tip of the tongue this is quite an enjoyable little drown I didn’t think all more would be so tasty I said I haven’t had an altimore in a eight or nine years something like that maybe even 10 I’d have to look at my archives to find out but I’m too lazy right now and I just want to enjoy this as I go to edit this video slun of food quig food quig food quig food quig food quig [Music]
