bonjour in today’s episode we’re taking a delicious trip to a place that needs no introduction for wine lovers Bordeaux France we’ll be visiting the grandest wine museum in the world go on a winery tour explore the local food scene and find the best caneles in town excited yet Ali Ona [Music] [Applause] [Music] no trip to Bordeaux would be complete without a visit to LIT Devon an architectural Marvel dedicated entirely to the world of wine its form takes inspiration from swirling wine being poured into a [Music] glass inside It’s A Feast for the sensus special effects films and even interactive exhibits tell the fascinating story of wine throughout history and across cultures we learned about the wine making process different grape varietal and even travel virtually through Vineyards around the world [Music] [Applause] but lit Devon isn’t just a museum the top floor has a bar that offers panoramic views of the [Music] city and what better way to enjoy the view than with a glass of bordeaux’s finest in hand [Music] nothing provides a local experience quite like a visit to the market so we went for a visit to Mar de kushin bordeau bustling daily Market this vibrant spot is a treasure Trove of fresh produce local Specialties and interesting eies after a careful deliberation we decided on some plump fresh local oysters sea snails and Seafoods too paired very nicely with a glass of crisp Bordeaux Blanc was the perfect way to soak up the atmosphere [Music] one of the things we were most looking forward to is the canellis Baux special pastry these little Treasures are a textural and flavor explosion imagine a soft custody Center encased in a dark caramelized crust the rum and vanilla notes add a delightful complexity and they’re not too sweet making them dangerously addictive among the ones we tried our favorites were caneles bardan and lto qu bardon’s caneles were more premium the crust is thicker and crunchier and you can see real vanilla beans inside the mixture it is however quite pricey the to is less fancy way cheaper but also very good we suspect that this is closer to the traditional recipe we can’t decide which one we like more and we recommend trying both for yourselves for our anniversary we ventured to lot de a renowned Steakhouse that’s a Bordeaux institution as the name suggests this restaurant is all about celebrating the art of the perfect steak we couldn’t go past their signature dish the massive kot du cooked very rare and served alongside classic trimmings and a selection of condiments including the famous Borday sauce to complete the experience we paired our steak with local wines from Sand milon and pesak leonan the perfect compliment to the rich flavors of the meal one not so fine day we ventured out of the city and into the famous Ry region of s Emon our first first stop was chat Flur deise a beautiful estate located on tamed lemono Limestone hillsides they’re committed to organic farming and biodynamic cultivation making their wines a true reflection of the th their Vineyards surround the village of santen deis and their plots are known for their diversity which allows them to create wines with exceptional balance and complexity we were lucky enough to take a tour of the Chateau and enjoy a tasting of their [Music] wines after our enriching experience at Chateau Flur we wandered through the Charming streets of s milon itself this UNESCO world heritage town is a visual fa with its medieval architecture winding Alleyways and Hilltop location offering breathtaking views of the surrounding Vineyards it couldn’t resist indulging in a local favorite the traditional Sant milon macarons these delightful treats are a bit different from their more colorful cousins they’re small have a very distinctive cracked surface and boast a subtle almond flavor we also took a moment to step inside the impressive collegate Church of sanilon a beautiful example of Romanesque [Music] architecture after soaking up the charm of sant milon our next stop was a fascinating double Feature A Visit to both shat tur balados and its sister estate chatau lail chatau T balados per Ona prominent livestone Plateau boasts stunning views and a long history of crafting exceptional wines we were treated to a tour of their facilities getting a behind the-scenes look at their meticulous wine making process from Vine to bottle but the tour didn’t end there we also ventured to chatau lail owned by the same family to discover their unique approach to wine making this estate is known for its intriguing blend that incorporates a higher percentage of Cabernet sovon than is typical of sant milon of course the Highlight was the tasting itself we tasted three outstanding Grand Crew wines the lail being rated among the top 1% of wines in the world according to vivino our tour guides also provided some food which further enhanced the wine tasting shout out to Ala France bordino and our lovely tour guides for this beautiful tour back in Bordeaux we found this very interesting and unique fast food joint called Canard Street only the French can come up with a fast food specializing in Duck Cony [Music] yum on another not so fine day we walked in for a delightful lunch at restaurant berus This Charming spot is known for its focus on Fresh seasonal ingredients and creative takes on French cuisine we each ordered a three course lunch menu which was absolutely beautiful [Music] [Music] we just can’t seem to get enough of Bordeaux wine so we went to the renowned Max Bordeaux for a truly special experience their Excellence tasting package as the name suggests this package is all about showcasing the very finest wines Bordeaux has to offer we enjoyed the selection of Premium wines each chosen to highlight the unique characteristics of a specific appalation was a fantastic way to be able to try these truly outstanding wines without having to sell a kidney both the Chateau bavel and the Glo Forte are rated among the top 1% of wines in the world according to Vino the others are also in the top 3% Excellence [Music] indeed in case you haven’t noticed we came in the cold season and we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit the Christmas mark Market it was [Music] [Music] magical to wrap up our delicious Adventure in Bordeaux we knew we had to end on a high note with dinner Upon Our tour gues recommendation we booked dinner at Le Baroque a restaurant that offers a great experience along with your [Music] meal get ready for a fusion of fresh local ingredients with Southwestern French cuisine all presented with a touch of Baro flare for starters we indulge in fagra our wine of choice was from pesak leonan for Mains I had the Iberian pork chop and Julie had the duck breast with a creamy caramel sauce the food was beautiful and we would have happily come here even without the theatrics it was the perfect meal to cap off our trip [Music] and that concludes our delicious journey through Bordeaux from the stunning Vineyards of Santa milon to The Marvelous sit Devon to its exciting restaurants we hope we’ve given you a taste of what this incredible wine region
