We visited the chateau at Menetou Salon with our friends Jo and Gary, then it was back to their Chateau for lunch and a bit of exploring.

We are Tony and Jane and we are living in and renovating our old Relais De Poste/Coaching Inn.
We live in the middle of France in a region called The Berry.
We have over 40 rooms to renovate so there is plenty of work to be done. We also love to trawl the local Brocantes, flea markets and antique shops for quirky furnishings and furniture.
We love to find out about local history and often visit other peoples buildings including our friends’ Chateaux.

relax and enjoy the a lovely tree that is gorgeous magnificent Sunny likes the sun there a dear and wild B in here Jose say quite often come across a deer so we’re hoping to see one wild B have been scooting under the fence there to get to the water Hall spooky down here yeah yeah Center of operations so this is where all spring water comes in so the spring water comes in from in the forest it comes from that is tunnels out of the property but the previous owners had heard from all the local Villages that there was and they were convinced I said I don’t [Music] [Music] we’ve come out for a little visit to the shatow the men to Salon with our friends Joe and Gary they live quite close by St away time you found the dog we’re just going on a guided tour but we probably won’t be allowed to film inside film a little bit from the outside J be pleased they have light peacocks in that enclosure over there here some white peacock of old cars and at the end of their visit there will be a degustation of the local wine the men Sal wi to that bit start with that okay us up to the wine bottle is there a test afterwards got exam is there a test afterwards yes yes on everything don’t worry it’s just for pleasure you in vacation just relax and enjoy the visit so where does Prince de arur live um his main residen is in loan but he also lives there and um that’s why it’s really he lives so the the castle is inhabited there is lots of personal memories inside you will see yeah em em thank um on [Music] Li Wings was the EMP of France and he was injured while while fighting and when the followers on his bloated uh skirt and word your to face each yes it’s because Sher was really fortun he has a lot of money he was really wealthy and wealthier than the king he um the king borrowed him money and moreover ja was a really close friend of which was the Mistress of the king Mich but Michelle will inside cast so you have Ro you and you and he spends his day running around after all the visitors doesn’t he waiting for people to come in and out the doors beautiful go it’s a lovely tree W that is gorgeous it’s a lime tree isn’t it is it lime yeah it’s got see see it’s got those little dangly bits same as I’ve got in my Courtyard you make tea from it it’s a te wheel anyway I think that’s what it is it’s a fury Le yeah oh yeah they’re really soft and that’s the same isn’t it oh what’s in here oh this is probably for the peacocks at night time peacocks yeah we’ve seen them they’re down here somewhere the 15 you have you he oh wow yeah they normally turn away from you when they do that oh beautiful that’s just for us wow yes he turns away there we are thank you very much it’s beautiful magnificent right I think we’re going to do a little wine tasting now the local wine it’s a label that means that it’s a quality Vine and uh its name is the menu salon and the prince owns only only 3.5 exas of Vin thing and the one you are going to taste was produced on the vinard of the the prince okay so wow not for G thank you that’s a nice L this I’m sorry if I put too much you can thank you thank you very much yummy it’s so crisp and dry it’s lovely you can always apples in it you think like sharp apples yeah and almost like a lemony citrusy do you like it Chris yeah it’s nice about you yeah do you sell these bot all the of course they do the end of your meal with reduit it delicious because you have like um um St uh no um yes straberry taste and reduit it’s such a hard life being a sh [Laughter] dog he’s gorgeous this is the caretaker’s dog need re in it and now we’re off to the chatow de con for lunch there the Boozer yeah it’s not open at the moment oh love the little duck um napkin room Beau it’s a barbecue without a barbecue a how wow that looks amazing thank you thank you Jo you’re very welcome wow look at this yes shade for me please Sunny likes the Sun there yeah we’re having to wander around Joe’s Forest but it’s been so wet it’s still wet in here you don’t think you can get through there oh it’s still wet there look even through there worried you about your boots I don’t worri about my boots but you’ve got open shoes you got to get back again don’t forget one of us you know one of us is going to end up on our Bottoms in the mud cross over this bit we should be all right but he a oh he’s a bit soft oh there another one obviously it’s a nice spot for the wild uh ball and where the sun’s got through you can see it’s dried it out so there must have been either a building here or yeah so the medieval CH has been taken down it’s just dumped and stuff’s growing over it yeah just lumps of stone in the middle of a forest yeah it’s so beautiful there a deer and wild Bo in here Joseph quite often comes across a deer so we’re hoping to see one so we’ve walked on quite a way through the forest there’s so many pieces of stone lying around Joe’s going to show me something Secret at that wow that’s like a piece of sculpture I’ve never seen that before oh my word how beautiful is that it’s like a huge sculpture make a Christmas tree out of it yeah oh that would be cool wouldn’t it you put some pretty lights through the forest you’d have to come out in your Willies though yeah you would have H there Hol there’s probably a nice Badger home or something under that so there is a small part of the forest here which belongs to a neighbor which is the closest neighbor it’s some way away what is it it’s the entrance to I think it’s the entrance to a tunnel oh it’s all bricks yeah at the top there but it’s wet now so is it some kind of a spring or something I always thought it was a tunnel look at the tree growing out of the brick wall yeah oh that’s massive as well obviously that’s not doing must be like not doing it any favors but there’s a reason that that’s been built isn’t there yeah it’s probably some sort of just cver like to the ditch there’s a lot of water over there yeah like a pond oh that’s little um Rivery thing and then we got like Springs over that place yeah you’ve got Springs lots and lots of Springs running right here is where they got the Stone from oh this was their Quarry was it oh yeah it’s very deep yeah look there’s a sort of a what I would call a wallowing hole Yeah but the wild love that and the deer probably drink from it there’s a lot of wild honeysuckle here oh wow look at that that is amazing that one’s going to come down look at that one oh yeah yeah it’s constant work isn’t it Forest but yeah look you can see here where the wild B have been scooting under the fence there to get to the water hole what was that wow yeah I wouldn’t stand underneath it Joe just swing on it so this is where they’ taking Stone out yeah yeah I think must do it can we get through if we got to go back around no I think we’ll be okay I didn’t know who was doing there oh yeah yeah oh you got on your legs be careful you I got boots on are you okay Jo to no I should be fine I should just concentrate around putting my feet right got me ouch no it really it really got me you okay I am if I can sort of work out a way to get through right okay yeah hang on I’m nearly there but yeah that is a bit of an obstacle that one this is the whole point isn’t it this is just one tree in the whole forest and you’ve got to maintain all the way but if you have someone do it every time a tree falls down it’s like two three four oh God yeah a lot money but they’re all so it is an O Forest these are massive must have been here for hundreds of years yeah two three 400 years old this one’s split I’ve seen a lot bigger oak trees but yeah they’re still several hundred years yeah there’s some huge ones here yeah look there’s another hole under the fence that’s Gary doing that that’s Gary filling the Hol in trying to stop the wild Bo coming through what he’s probably doing that he doesn’t realize is the wild Bo probably live this side yeah and blocking and then they want to get out yeah you do see them come in you come out at dust this is where you see them this here huge yeah it’s bit scary so when you Google what to do if you see while B it says um run and if you can’t run go to the hospital I don’t but then theya more F than you yeah they are yeah say they probably come in anyway ah what’s this here that’s next door yeah the sh next door that’s the back end of it the medeval sh right see oh it’s quite full yeah and go like heavy streams coming through oh yeah it’s coming through there really pretty way up the forest there there there about seven or eight different grouts different Pathways can take up and some of them have got a lot more streams than others oh who’s really pretty is that yeah someone’s chopped a bit off of that as well hav’t they this is Gary scarecrow I want your viewers to understand how much technical engineering goes into a scarecrow like this right so it’s got an old Anor with a solar light on its head we were going to go and drag then and try and see if we can get some funding to make it a commercial Enterprise and what’s this SP to scare obviously crows the BS the wild BS yeah they probably look at and go but I think think that scared me I think maybe and we need to invent some sort of um system where it doesn’t fall over like that oh and they they probably use it as a um lmar yeah well probably The Telltale thing would be whether you’ve seen lots of wild board prints all all of a sudden turning around and running away they’ve stolen the solar light solar light no oh oh it’s there on the floor different one that’s that’s a new one no oh oh I think you might have to beef your um prototype up a little bit before you go on Dragon Ste you think I’ll let just a just a we bit so this is meant to stop them coming out onto your lovely grass and digging it up right okay really want them coming out to the formal Drive no they oh we’ve come out further down the driveway we didn’t see any deer unfortunately oh they’re pretty oh you seem to have lots of mole Hills yeah yeah we’ve just got one I don’t know how it got in our garden it must have swam and we so we used the and the little M for good for filling pops yeah yeah I [Applause] have got dessert now probably not not yet I’m waiting for my lunch to go down so I can have some dessert hence the walk around the forest Jo’s just showing me part the shadow we’ve never been in before it’s down these steps into the cellar on this one so this here from this bit here yeah to there is our central heating oiled fuel tank oh right so that’s your boiling room sort of thing no that’s just a tank of the fi oh right okay is here you can’t see the lights off here but B spooky down here yeah yeah Center of operations so this is where all the spring water comes in so the spring W comes in from the forest it comes in here yeah and um we can have it in the chat or we can have it to the garden stuff W so it’s free water apart from obviously maintaining this yeah and this is our wow it’s huge yeah so they just replaced this before they left this is oil oil fueled yeah right but we only had it on like I think five days last winter not much yeah you have the big fire in your Lounge don’t you and wow it’s massive another room here as if you need more room but yeah but that’s um some old cold there okay and then we have a wine salad which is all racked out but it’s got no wine in it here oh okay out and what but they had all of these wine wacks were filled with really yeah and you got little labels look yeah yeah oh well you have to start a new collection I know I’m trying but marala that’s a sweet one isn’t it I don’t I’m not keen on the sweet one type thing in this there’s a book about one it yeah oh yeah aren’t they lovely though little labels yeah they are nice so they’re supposed to go like that I think I think little yeah you probably got yeah I was just going to say you probably got little hooks on whichever part you use there are some yeah there’s one down there I haven’t really paid attention to this I’ve got like 20 bottles of wine which is embarrassing for prob you like this it’s what happens oh that’s an old PK interesting though you get a lot of wine in here could you it’d be lovely to do this up I’d love to do this up and then put little table and chairs and have wies and wine and cheese nights it’d be fun if you haven’t got enough today so this above our head that’s the where are we under laundry room but Pantry laundry room seen the laundry room and this is all ducked in for your heating and stuff yeah but it’s the original cooling system like had an air flow so it’s the Victorian air flow system that used to have in the 19th century CH and then it’s been converted it’s been converted which is really smart wow we’ve tried to cut through so you can see we’ve tried to get through here oh okay so the that way is blocked off that’s blocked off so we we we’ve been told se’s done a few yeah so there’s a secret carve under there massive apparently it’s huge one that is tunnels out of the property right and it’s where would it have been sealed up I don’t know I don’t know all I know is they’re supposed to be yeah cuz this looks reasonably new all this work to be like 1970s yeah maybe something like that I don’t know but 200 years it hasn’t been useful wow and it’s Ved so is that there’s no inlets like that into the next no there’s nothing else no it’s very strange isn’t it it is strange so Gary and I think I think maybe who was it I one been John that said I don’t think there a seller there but the bottle you got here Jo did you miss that one you know what I do I I rack I put them in order so these are the nice onnes so but unfortunately I like nice wine so these the ones that just coughing wine I like don’t give a stuff about I touch them and it’s have no nice wine left oh but you drink this one before you stu that one up again normal people would but a not necessarily [Laughter] me so yes that’s all Little W say mind your head though cuz it’s low oh okay there a little light there Swit yeah okay let’s just do that one step so this is our little stay Cat bedroom oh yeah this is where they we found them but they were down here there nice um bits of wood there actually some Timber beams yeah nice and an old fireplace that’s originally from the dining room so they replace it from in Paris that’s like a little stove like you’ve got oh this floor feels really weird yeah cuz it’s light yeah look at that fireplace actually that’s the sort of fireplace that the boys were saying used to be in their sh it was almost like a cooker yeah that was inside the fireplace this was in the dining room I me there’s a German word for it that Patrick calls it have they they haven’t seen this have they no I don’t think I think he would know what it is I don’t Reon they’ve seen the really BR down there too often no but it is it’s like that ceramic yeah old school kind of stove as I say there is a name for it and I can’t think but it is but there that piece and then there’s what looks like another piece that goes on the top of that and some other pieces and then there’s a central what looks like an oven piece yeah and then there’s a what looks like a giant slate mantle piece yeah so I think it’s all there yeah there is cuz they took it down they just brought it down here oh prosity and this is propal like old school coal not like this was probably well half full with coal at one point yeah well it looks like you can see the that’s what they would have used before the oil I suppose so yeah so that’s the sell wow interesting I’ve never been down here it’s isn’t it well it’s interesting it is interesting yeah it’s actually really big yeah it’s big and it’s clever CU like something like the for there so the central heating system goes on fire the fire ex goes on they wild cats coming and yeah yeah Joe spoils them of course she does she’s adopted them but they’re still quite wild yeah they’re bit wild yeah right and that’s to clamp this part of the building together to support it it’s not going to it’s not going to close the crack but it’s going to stop it from going any further apart I think he’s going to put another one further up top here and take that through
