032 This week we’re feeling like we’re really starting to enjoy being here in Central France. As such, we’re headed to the Venice of the Alps, Annecy, France.

Thanks for watching,

Michael and April

Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

we are definitely enjoying our summer so far really nice to just slow down and open the windows let the fresh Breeze blow through today is of course laundry day I got April’s got laundry out of the line [Music] one of the reasons we moved to central France was to be able to travel and um we’re here today in aie our daughter is a big fan of animation and film and so we decided we would um travel to aie and come to the International Film Festival which has been going for like since 1963 1963 it’s um it’s really interesting April you should Pan the camera around they’ve got a big giant screen over here where they have an outdoor theater and um there’s a convention Hall and of course it’s in the beautiful city of on Oni or ony we’re not sure the pronunciation we’ve heard it pronounced both but it’s essentially the French Alps or and I think just over that Hill is Geneva Switzerland they they refer to this as the Venice of the Alps the Venice of the Alps fantastic yes it is extraordinary we are here a few years ago during Co and it was definitely not as busy but there’s also a film festival well I want to walk up and show you just the clarity of this mountain lake it is absolutely unbelievable with Clarity and it has a Sandy Bottom which is incredible yeah so we’ll walk over there now all right say so this is p Dore or the lovers bridge and as you can see it opens up to the beautiful Lake on the sea and it’s a little murky today but typically this is just crystal clear but today because of the wind and the weather it’s a little more cloudy but I think you can see it goes Sandy Bottom all the way out to about I don’t know I think that’s about 100 m maybe 200 M out there and then it gets deep way in the distance you can see the wind Surfers out there enjoying themselves such a beautiful beautiful town and lake and Waterfront hey it it’s a windy day and on but um it’s really cool because this lake is I read about 450 um M and 10 and it’s got um some boats that you can rent they electric and paddle boat or pedal boat are right over here and they have the really cool water slides I want Michael to show that cuz this would be such a great place to be with the family so this is kind of B more iconic ony and the little Canal front Canal seems to be really full right now it’s kind of nice because it rained this morning and it kind of chased a lot of people away and of course the um weather is overcast but it’s really nice and cool [Music] so a few years ago we had tartlet which is basically potatoes and ham roasted in a dish here this is where yeah this is where we and of course this area is known for tatra flet and rolet and all all cheesy delici cheesy melted deliciousness is Market day here in aie it’s Friday fairly busy again I think the rain chased a lot of people away and of course it’s noon so a lot of the vendors are packing up most of these markets are typically open only until about noon ah look at the chicken over there fantastic Saucy song prise The goom [Music] [Music] to comfor lots of really fun vendors I thought this was really funny it’s a souvenir machine that gives out a z bill so I bought a couple and they’re actually they feel like a they truly feel like a a Euro note but they’re worth nothing cuz they’re zero too funny such a beautiful little picturesque City of course there’s lots of tourists including us so April found gir day I think it’s pronounced gir that’s the gentleman inside and it’s essentially a canel restaurant and it’s only open for lunch so we’re here at lunchtime and they have nails that you can take to go which is fantastic of course olive oil and wine selection and April but we have many different types I don’t know if I can spinage and balsamic formage and chevra so Fage and cheese and onion sesame seeds they have the classic which is Pike and then we have all the sauces where ows tomat tomat is a classic crayfish of course a beautiful little restaurant and I went it for Server so it’s artichoke and saffron saffron thank you and it has chive and olive oil on the top and it it’s so warm it feels amazing Bernice does it smell good M look at this I wish you could smell it what you have this is canel with the traditional CRA fish and uh shrim sauce it’s Pike dumpling basically and um we read that um is um the best place to get it in AI it’s more traditional leonise but um they look amazing and they small OB I can’t wait to eat yes and we feel like we’re on full display as everybody walks up and watches us eat but it’s a beautiful setting as you can see it’s essentially a um what would you call that like a little dough and it’s in sauce but it’s essentially Pike dumpling dumpling just wanted to show what it looked like inside [Music] I should I [Music] [Music] you bring you me too [Music] want [Music]

  1. What a beautiful town. The weather was wild! You could see the current the little ducks were swimming against 😊
Pike dumplings…… what were they like? I've always thought pike would taste quite bland, and the sauce liven it up. Beautiful light dumplings, though!
    Raclette, tarteflette, saucisson, yum 😋

  2. Great video! I've never been to this particular town, so I appreciate getting to see it through you. What an amazing place, it will be added to my list of future places to visit the next time I'm in France. Au revoir!

  3. Hi,love the videos, very seductive.Could you say something about dealing with the difficulties arising from the Scheveningen Agreement limiting the time you can stay in France and other European countries.Perhaps it doesn’t apply to American nationals. Thanks Philip

  5. How long was the drive? You're in the Limoges area, right? Also if this is June, wonder when (if??) it warms up enough to swim.

  6. The Annecy festival will now be on our list to visit someday. Only a drive of 4-5 hours away. And such a beautiful surroundings. We also love the fresh markets!

  7. It's A-nnecy, just with the french A sound. When there is a double consonant, you'll never have the nasal sound [an].
Fun to watch it through your eyes, I spent my teenage years there. I actually never saw the lake this agitated ! I feel sorry for you.😅
Yes Giraudet is a famous name, regarding quenelles.
    Thank you

  8. What a pretty little town Annecy is and enjoyed your tour including the market but wish you'd used more English words to describe what you were seeing at the market as my French isn't good.

  9. Oh my! The food looked so delicious, it must of smelled so wonderful in that Cafe! The little town is so adorable, like all the scenic ones from all the travel channels. How fun it must be to live in a quaint little village.
