I’m right down Main Street and we are dining at every restaurant in epcot’s World Showcase today we’re eating at [Music] lelia the eighth episode of this series brings us to Canada where we are dining at my favorite restaurant in the whole world showcase I would actually go as far as saying lelia is serving up the third best steak on Disney property they recently changed up the menu a bit here so we’re going to see what that’s all about and more let’s head inside and upon entry you might be able to realize why a lot of people don’t really like that restaurant and that is because of the Ambiance a lot of people think it is way too dark in here the tables are way too close and it makes a lot of people uncomfortable which I kind of understand that is also why it took me so long to make this video because like I said it’s my favorite restaurant in the world showcase foodwise but it’s a little difficult to make a video in here because it is so dark and the tables are so close luckily we got a little booth in the corner so um we’ll have a little bit more space to move around and make this video but it’s definitely a tight squeeze in here let’s jump right into this and take a look at the brand new menu we’ll start with the appetizers of course they have a cheese plate a wedge salad bison tartar shrimp cocktail we’ve got some muscles of course the classic poutine a salad from the land and the most popular appetizer on this menu or possibly the most popular dish on this entire menu the Canadian cheddar cheese soup usually when I D at lelia I don’t get an appetizer because the steak that I get is so huge that I leave absolutely stuffed every single time but changing it up for you guys today I will be ordering an appetizer and I think I’ve got to try the classic poutine they used to actually have a couple of different options of poutine that you could get they put like different stuff on it but it looks like they’ve just narrowed it down to just one the classic with the gravy and the curds I had it outside recently at the like kind of grab and go little window there it was so good but I expect it to be even better in here but before we get to our poutin they also bring you out a complimentary Bread Basket which is not to be slept on the bread here is so good they even have pretzel rolls not only is the pretzel bread here great but it’s also served with a delicious soft salted maple butter and we even all got our own little Ramin of butter I’m dining here with my mom and her friend today and my mom always yells at me for using too much butter so we all got our own so um I don’t even have to share so that is great let’s butter this bad boy up my classic method you just put it right on you don’t even need to cut anything in half you don’t cut it why waste your time you’re just going to eat it I put it right on top toe the butter adds just a little bit of sweetness to this pretzel roll I’m not a big fan of like overly Maple things and this is just the perfect amount of Maple in there I think the pretzel bread isn’t as fresh as it usually is today tastes Tad taale maybe that’s cuz the restaurant is so empty so they have like so much left over um but it’s still really good I love a good pretzel and this is perfect way to start your meal at leler all right after that bread the appetiz iers are starting to come out my mom got the classic appetizer here so I’m going to have her tell you about it I ordered the Canadian cheddar cheese soup which you can get at Food and Wine right I think they ser and they serve it with a pretzel roll just a tinier portion but it’s made with moose head pale ale and apple would smoked bacon and I got to tell you you can taste the bacon in this um it is so good as you can see I have just a drop left just enough to dip the pretzel roll in and eat it it was so good I always get it at the festival um unless it’s too hot that’s the only problem sometimes I come when it’s too warm so you have to come when it’s a little cooler and you can get it there and I am going to take some of that for a dip to eat my pretzel bread with the cheese [Music] soup best way to eat it I do kind of wish they just served a cup of that soup because honestly I don’t want to eat it I just want to use it to dip my pretzel bread into I could just use a cup of it that would be perfect I wish they had a smaller portion but enough of this soup let’s get to my appetizer this is the classic poutine it’s made with hand cut fries cheese curds cheddar and Borday sauce for $17 that is definitely a pretty pricey order of french fries probably the priciest order of french fries I have ever had but this looks fantastic our server poured the Borday sauce all over top it should make those cheese curds just a little softer and these fries look real fresh I feel like I definitely need a fork to eat this poutine here oh those fries these fries are so fresh you can totally tell these are hand cut freshly fried they honestly kind of remind me of the fries at the boat house they’re like that same thin size and the gravy on top there is super super rich not only is the Border Blaze sauce very very rich it has a very deep red wine flavor that I really enjoy there’s not that much cheese I could use a little bit more cheese a little bit more curd in there but honestly this is fantastic definitely the best poutin I’ve ever had now I’ve never been to Canada so I’m not sure if this is exactly like accurate as to what a typical poutine is but our server let us know that this is probably not what they usually serve in Canada he is from Canada um and he said a lot of people that come in from Canada say it’s really good but it’s not like it is back in Canada so I trust him um but seriously it might not be authentic but it is very very tasty and yes I agree I was going to say I taste truffle as well it has a little bit a slight truffle flavor which I love truffle so that’s perfect for me you know what maybe they toss the fries in that truffle butter that they use for the steaks this portion is huge and like I’ve said a couple of times it’s a very rich dish like there’s no way you can finish this on your own it’s definitely a good appetizer to kind of like share with the table this chees soup is a little hard to like share with the table this is the perfect appetizer to get for your whole table we’re sharing it three ways and I don’t even think we’re going to be able to finish it still now that we’ve filled up a little bit with the appetizers let’s take a look at our entree choices this is kind of where you’re going to start seeing a lot of the menu changes so now they have these like butcher cuts which are basically the different types of steak that they offer and when you order a butcher cut you can get a choice of a side and a choice of a sauce they have a ribeye New York strip a pork chop and then the ribeye for two that is not all those they also have this land and sea category with the leler fet Manan the fan favorite their vegan option is a mushroom tart they have some jibet some chicken and then our sides are down here mac and cheese cream spinach fries roasted carrots charred broccolini and mashed potatoes those are the also the sides that we could choose when we get the butcher Cuts I would definitely say the most popular item for people to order here is the leler fan a lot of people order that a lot of people love it but my favorite piece of meat here is the ribeye why did I say it like that I said in the beginning but this ribeye is actually my third favorite steak on Disney property a ribeye is my favorite cut of meat I think this riye is absolutely phenomenal and I don’t know I don’t know if they changed it or not so I did decide on the 16 oz ribeye but when you order it you have to choose a sauce as well you can Cho choose from Borday or or I’m definitely saying that wrong bernes but then you can also get the truffle butter that comes on the fet Manan on your steak instead of one of those sauces when I would come here in the past each steak was kind of paired up with a different set of sides and you were always able to change up the sides that you wanted with your cut of meat so this kind of makes sense I like that they do it this way it makes it a little bit easier oh also I almost forgot you can still get the mushroom risotto as a side instead of one of the sides that I listed so you can still choose that with one of your butcher cuts um but I decided to again change it up a little bit well mother what did you order for your entree I ordered the fillet medium with the mushroom risotto filet is my favorite cut of meat uh I always order it whenever it’s available I didn’t love it it had like a smoky burnt charred flavor I don’t know I always feel like when we come here the meat is super salty but today it wasn’t really salty it was just like burnt and charred I don’t know my mom saved me one her final bite her final bite of her fillet with her risoto here that’s burnt that’s not smokey that’s burnt on the outside that wasn’t cooked well but I don’t think it’s usually like that I think it was just a bad bad day for the fillet that is burnt I taste like Char actually in my mouth and I like Char on my steak that is not the Roto is good though I got to say the cut also didn’t look like the best cut of meat um it was very very thin for a fillet it should be thick and juicy that was not thick and juicy that was thin definitely not a good showing for the fet today but hopefully it is a good showing for my ribeye I got this 16 oz ribeye with truffle butter and the mac and cheese it cost me $59 I feel like we should kind of pour this truffle butter sauce all over this riby here it’s very fluffy I hear it h in the steak smells truff I enjoy a fatty steak that’s why I like ribe eyes but this looks like a lot of fat like I actually don’t even know where to cut into because it’s really really fatty let’s try this out let’s go for a little bit more truffle butter there that truffle butter is absolutely delicious my steak has a little bit of a char crust on the outside which I love but mine isn’t burnt like the fet it adds a really nice flavor and a really nice texture a little crunch when you bite in the piece that I got was really really good I’m not sure if it’s necessarily cooked medium rare this looks more like a medium to me um but it’s still tasty while I am definitely enjoying my steak today I feel like it’s probably the worst steak that I’ve had from lelia it’s not bad but it’s just not up to par with what it usually is and I know that’s another issue that a lot of people have here a lot of people say it’s very very inconsistent and they’ll come here one day and they’ll have like the best meal ever and then they’ll come here next month and it’s just not the best um but the last three three times I’ve DED here my steak has been so phenomenal I’ve been like ooing and eyeing as I’m eating it like i’ it’s so good this time like I said it’s good it’s just not on that same level today as I’m eating it I’m also realizing that it’s a little more like tough than it usually is and again I’m kind of just like looking at this steak and there is just like hun and hunks of fat and I know ribeye like I said is supposed to be fattier that is a okay with me but this is like fat that should have probably been cut off a little bit more like this is not not a good showing for lelia today’s not even e let’s try our side though the mac and cheese and I on looking at it I expected a little bit more from this this is supposedly made with Applewood smoked bacon and smoked gouda there is a little herb breadcrumb situation on top and it’s kind of giving craft from the looks of it with this I think it’s called tree pasta this thin little uh thin little squiggly noodles I don’t know if I’ve ever had mac and cheese with this kind of pasta so we’ll see how it is that’s so bad is it really that’s not good it’s not worth the money today at all the bacon in there is like so chewy and then yeah it it kind of tastes like craft like it’s giv craft not only does it look like it it tastes like it as well the breadcrumbs on top are not toasted they are soggy I think those breadcrumbs are the worst part I would even go as far as saying Disney’s Quick Service mac and cheese is better than that wow it tastes like cardboard like yeah that that is top three worst Mac and cheeses I’ve had at Disney World I guess I will stick to my steak or the little tiny meat that is left on my plate because it’s literally it’s literally like I’m not kidding it’s 70% fat and 30% meat on this plate right now we do have one more shot at turning this meal around because I will be ordering dessert and I do love the dessert here now they do have a bunch of different desserts on the menu but I always go with the kitty menu dessert the chocolate mousse let’s eat our Moose’s nose it’s so good this is better than the chocolate mousse you make Mom it’s again this is it’s so rich but so creamy and so chocy I absolutely love this dessert at least we’re ending on a good note we’re ending on a good note with this mousse I get it every single time I actually want to check the price of this when we get the receipt I don’t know how much it is cuz it doesn’t say it on the kids menu but must order and although it’s on the kids menu you can order it my mom decided to go with the profal at the recommendation of our waiter this has a cheesecake and a berry filling let’s try it out that is absolutely delicious as well it gives the chocolate mousse a run for its money you know what it kind of tastes like on the outside it kind of tastes like a canoli it has like this little crumble to give it a little Crunch and then the cheesecake on the inside is very very creamy I could use more Berry I didn’t get much Berry but that’s phenomenal well shockingly the dessert was definitely the best part of our meal today that was really good I would definitely order both of those desserts again ending on a good note so I’m happy with that well we are finished with our lunch and you guys know over here on this channel we keep it no BS 100% honest Disney food reviews and that meal was not the best I have dined at leler many many times and unfortunately foodwise that was the wor showing the appetizer was great the service 10 out of 10 dessert also 10 out of 10 I really loved both desserts but when you’re paying about $60 sometimes a little bit more for a steak it should be spot on every single time however that was definitely just an off day for the restaurant for our meal like I said I’ve DED there before and I always really really loved it I even said it’s the third best steak at Disney World when you get it on a good day and it just stinks that today of course of course the day that I’m filming a video it wasn’t up to par with what I’m used to but that is okay I will still be back to leler I still rank it as my top restaurant in the world showcase just an off day like I said I still encourage you guys to check it out um because I think it’s a really really great restaurant at least the best in Epcot in my opinion well we are off into the world showcase and it is not a trip to Epcot without a stop at laaba and I hear they have a new drink that is right up my alley as we’re walking to laava it’s so weird seeing the Showcase this empty there’s currently no Festival going on in Epcot so no booths open not that many people here either the moment of truth let’s see what kind of line we’re working with today oh my gosh first of all it’s a good sign when you don’t see anyone on the ramp but there’s also like no one in the switchbacks in the queue it really is an empty day here in Epcot I’m digging it this is it this is what I’m looking for the Highland Coffee it’s got te coffee laor vanilla cream espresso oh my God that sounds so good we are literally the only people at the bar right now this is literally unheard of now I must say I typically don’t like frozen cocktails or frozen margaritas but I’ve never had a bad drink from laava so I have very high hopes for this I obviously love espresso martinis and I love margaritas as well so this is like the best of both worlds it’s like two of my Favorite Beverages combined in one we’ve got the three beans on top looking real good let’s try it out oh my gosh that is strong strong in a good way though and strong in the sense of strong coffee flavor and strong tequila flavor man I I had high expectations from this and I think this is honestly exceeding it it’s a risky move putting a frozen coffee in the Mexico Pavilion because right next door in Norway they have the Frozen Viking coffee you can get it with alcohol without alcohol um and that drink is very very good I think it’s the best drink in Norway so having a frozen coffee Margarita right next door in the Mexico Pavilion like I said risky move but it paid off this is absolutely delicious and I know a lot of you guys are on that tuto Gusto espresso Martini train but this is the best espresso drink in Epcot right now guys come try it out well guys it is such a beautiful day here in Epcot it’s not too warm which is really really shocking either that or this coffee Margarita is really cooling me down and with that I think my mom and I are actually going to hop in line for test track she wants to ride it one last time before it closes which it’s closing for refurbishment very very soon so I think we’re going to get one last ride in and I’m going to chalk up our poor meal at leler to just an off day let me know Down Below in the comments your thoughts on leler cuz I know a lot I took my mom to Le Cellier on Christmas Day in 2016. We both got the filet, it was so salty we couldn’t finish it. We should have complained but we didn’t. We won’t go back. For what you pay, it should be perfect. I appreciate your honesty in all your videos. Disney is a magical place but they have room to improve!

I agree 100 percent. My ribeye was all fat. It went downhill. Sad. Was always a top runner.

The shape of both those steaks didnt even look like a rib eye or a filet. I would have sent them both back. Disney sometimes doesnt care what they put out as far a food because they dont think they are going to see that many repeat customers. Especially in the more expensive restaurants. The food should be the same everytime for those prices.
Hands down you do not pay for that meal ! You have to say something and not eat all of it.

Both steaks should have been sent back. Like you said for the money.the steak should be quality and cooked correctly.

We tried Le Cellier for the first (and only) time in Feb 2022. Haven’t been back because my boyfriend had the same experience with the ribeye as you did. There was so much fat on his steak that they ended up discounting it. We haven’t been back because there are just much better places on property to get steak (looking at you, Toledo!).
We had a very similar experience there when we went in April. Very disappointing. The steaks were slightly over so instead of a medium rare, a medium. The meat didn't seem like a good quality cut or even trimmed well. And the service was poor – they rushed everything. When we went a couple years ago, before the menu change, it was fine. Unfortunately we're crossing it off the dining list next trip. I don't mind the price but it has to be pretty flawless. Love your channel!

You can order the cheddar cheese soup from the children's menu as your appetizer. It gives me just enough to enjoy before the meal.

What are your other two favorite steaks on property? We were going to try Le Cellier on our next trip. On our last trip my husband had a terrible steak at Steakhouse 71 so I want to find something he’ll like.
I suspect your mom was unfortunate enough to get a center cut filet. We ran into this issue a few years ago, it was thin and overdone. It was sent back and they brought it right back out to us, the chef refused to give us another. I don’t think we’ve been back since. I do love the mushroom risotto, cheese soup and pretzel bread.

Fun fact the pretzel bread at Le cellier and the sausage buns in the German pavilion are both made in Kitchener Ontario Canada
AllEars has the recipe for the Canadian beer cheese soup and it is spot on! So you don't have to wait till you go to Disney to enjoy it!
For those prices, the Steaks should be perfectly cooked and the Best cuts!!! Definitively would have sent BURNT steak back!!! AND RIBEYE should have just enough fat for flavor, but 70% fat, Yuck…

I didn’t enjoy this restaurant! Service was horrible! Waitress spent the time talking about herself to the table next to us! It was very dark and very crowded. I couldn’t get past all this to even enjoy the food! Too expensive to put up with all this crap! Didn’t even remember the food! I will go someplace else with good food and better service !
Great video Kristen – love when your mom puts in an appearance! I Have to say that even as an introvert Brit who HATES confrontation both your mom's steak and yours would have been sent back to the kitchen if we'd been there – especially for those prices! Is this something that would rarely happen in a Disney restaurant, or in the US generally? I rarely – if ever – see things get sent back on YouTube videos, even when they're sub-par. This is a genuine question – perhaps the Brits are just a bunch of moany old whingers lol 🤣

Hey Kristen (& Michelle)! I am so happy you review the food you get without returning it! It’s so authentic to what we might experience while visiting. I’m wondering how much the return of the Dining Plan has to do with the quality of food presented. Would you say that food at the parks was better when there was no Dining Plan?
I did not have a good meal here back in February. The service was so so so slow. The soup was delicious, but the steak was full of fat and tough 😢

I dont care for the atmosphere. It's like a dark dingy basement. I hate the cheese soup. I dont like poutine. Blah. It's too expensive… I'd rather have quick service in America 😊
Last time we went the poutine was really salty and the ribeye was really tough, also the guy next to us letting his 5 yr old boy yell and scream the whole time.

I found that ordering the steak rare with a char was the best steak. We dined at Le Cellier and I love rib-eye, had the same experience as you. My son ordered it rare with a char and it was delicious. I glad tl know your experience, we'll know how to order next time.
