  1. Or step one, start at a non $100000USD school. I did TAFE in Aus as a local for like $2400AUD international students pay approx $10000.

While studying get an apprenticeship at a fine dining location and get paid to have access to the best ingredients.

Or study full time and get a job as a KP at a hatted or starred restaurant and meet current and future chefs.

Study in any Western country and have a curriculum that is based on French cuisine, with other European Dishes and techniques sprinkled in.

Go to your job and learn a wide variety of techniques and Dishes the world over including american, Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Filipino and many many more – both from menus and colleagues. Change jobs every 12-18months and get even more variety and knowledge.

Take the remaining $90k and split it in half. Half goes toward your retirement fund. Half goes to a luxury trip around the world with champagne and Cavier regularly.

Also I've worked in upscale places. We get cavier samples occasionally as new suppliers and options come onto the scene.

After 1-3 years depending on whether you apprenticed or not graduate with little to no debt (you worked your way through and cost was way way lower) and after an amazing holiday with a good nest egg locked away that will (assuming you put $50 away weekly) after a thirty year career leave you with approx $381000). Or if you live in Aus and earn on average $65000 yearly therefore include the 11% employer super contribution a retirement fund of $681000 approx.

Not everyone can be the influencer who makes bank of their investment. Most won't. Don't waste your money.

  2. Most people who go tell you it’s not worth it and to start from the bottom at a restaurant. That’s where you learn the most by working in a real kitchen. My cousin is a head chef at a restaurant and went to culinary school and I know people who’ve been they say not worth the money and the best way to learn is through experience

  3. Im taking up a culinary arts certificate and my major is baking and pastry financial aid abd scholarships help out alot but because f how the credits work ive been having to pay outta pocket which sucks but i absolutely love going to classes and learning! Its not for everyone but to me its worth it!

  4. And I don't have enough money to go to medical school😭😭 srsly people are wasting their money!!!

  5. This school better teach me how to levitate s*** and let my ancestors cook for me if I'm going to pay 100k

  6. Did i hear right *even*. Dude if i drop that kind of money id better learn how to cook all the cuisine on this planet.

  7. I could take a fourth of that and spend 5k in 5 countries learning authentic cooking from locals shoot even 10k is a enough to travel a bit learning different authentic cuisines and cooking methods, or I could do paid internships, or join the military as a culinary specialist and get paid to travel and learn to cook and they’ll pay for the college aswell (I’m “totally” not in the military trying to recruit people)

  8. I went through a culinary apprenticeship and it was free.nothing against culinary school but i worked along side many culinary graduates and most wasn't really successful in the kitchen..were they were successful was starting there own business like personal chef.i spent my time in casual dining they don't care about a culinary degree you may be the best cook in the restaurant but there not going to start you more than a cook whos been on the line for like years.if you want to work independent restaurants dont go to culinary school, but if you want to work in cafaterias, cruise ships maybe Hotels than culinary school may be best you can utilize more of your skills but even there your going to start the same as everyone else no matter if you get your degree or not.

  9. As a fellow chef, you were SCAMMMED 😢 for real, you should be taught with both basic & prime ingredients, not only that but I’m guessing like with my training, they were gentle & respectful. There’s no such thing in a professional kitchen, there’s no HR that’s on your side, and if you’re in a state where firing laws are out of control, you’re either F-ed or record an interaction & threaten the HR rep. My coworker told me I should be at home having kids while he worked 2 jobs & took 3 breaks during rush, has a sham wife. I’ve seen a huge shift in quality of work in the last few years & shouldn’t have to know 3 languages to manage my kitchen. The sexism is so real, the lower standards since Covid is so real. Anyone worth their salt has been pushed out by losers who work for less with a below the board standard.

  10. Most people I met who go to culinary school, end up in the same kitchens as people who never went to culinary school….. do not waste 100,000 on culinary school.
