026 We are slowly making improvements to our little stonehouse to make it more to our liking. This week we hang the curtains April made in the US, we walk to town for some lunch at our friend Paula’s Bistro (Bistro La Forge) and I hang our TV on the wall.

Thanks again for watching,

Michael and April

Description of Us:
We are a couple of American Francophiles who have come to truly appreciate so many things about French culture. We love the food, wine, art, and history of France, but especially the people we have met along the way. Join us as we make our dream of living in France a reality. Follow us as we explore the French living and a new life there with our beloved dog, Bernice. We enjoy learning about stone house renovation, wine, cooking, brocante shopping, and the French community we are now a part of.

welcome back to central France this week
we turn our attention to some of the
little things in the house that are
making it feel just so much more like
home and we also take a walk into town
to visit the pastro of our friend Paula
so I hope you enjoy our
adventures okay look it can be like that
I like that most of the time it’ll just
be like
this do need to do more didn’t realize
this one had lace and this so
okay I think that’s good it’s a nice
amount of privacy
[Music]
don’t want to pull a Lincoln it fall off
the
ladder shout out to Lincoln and Amanda
which we don’t know that might not be as
injurious as
latter I need to point out that it’s not
long
enough okay I’ll bring
the
down keep coming keep
coming me usually I don’t put it on the
inside anymore because the shower’s so
deep in there it doesn’t
matter it’s
pretty a little Mark
do you want me to get you a hammer just
hammer it in no okay start
it I tapped it with the
screwdriver no
comment p are here if you
need
okay that I think it’s going be
good so this is what I was hoping for
little privacy curtain for all of the
things that are going to get stored
under there like the towels and there’s
the new shower
curtain and you can see that this one is
hiding the hot water heater so we just
have the little the little shelf over
there so that looks good um over
here uh still need one more curtain so
going to be making that second one and
hopefully try to camouflage the length
or just time that one up to meet it I
actually like it come down a little
further so I’m not sure what I’m going
to do but I definitely like the
neutrality and um we’ve got some privacy
which is nice
[Music]
too yeah GNA steam that
guy all right time to say goodbye to the
tangerine
do you like the idea get rid of the
Tangerine
curtains
these kind of slide up here you can see
that on here this little hole there
see if I can get
focused little hole there and they slide
right on like
that
these
nice here want your orange tassels no
I’m trying to
quit so there you go I mean it’s it’s a
lot more
light maybe not do you the orange I like
it looks pretty definitely want a new
Rod I
think L is nice I like the length a
lot yeah just looks cute I mean we need
to paint of
course okay so this one’s done obviously
some repair is needed but privacy set
until we can get back this summer and do
some more yeah I like them pretty
that’s
outside if you move to
France buy a good
vacuum for the bucks it’s a good
idea P’s favorite
thing going for a walk
hey what’d you forget got my wallet if
only someone had reminded
you it’s the cows in the other field
so there’s the Marie’s office
there so we are just here by the
cemetery come
see and then we’re
walking down into the
town
There’s car Heritage this is a
carpy which was a new thing for
me but people come and pay to fish the
carb oh there see it says carb fishery
and um they’re like 30 and 40
and more um pounds which is pretty
amazing they put them
back glorious
oo look at their Garden
honey that’s beautiful
there’s the
laundry right there you can see the fire
the
church and right down
here that’s where Paula’s restaurant is
that’s where we’re going to have a
little lunch hope Paula’s restaurant is
called Beast Forge
because this is where
the um right there you can kind of see
on the building next to the sheet sign
that’s the old sign for the
black so that’s why her her his name and
there it is we’re here to have lunch
[Music]
okay I was going to put a better mount
on this
TV temporarily when I bought the TV
couldn’t get a way to couldn’t figure
out a way to um put it in the little TV
spot and of course I bought too big of a
TV so I kind of
just Jimmy rigged it or as my friend
Chris would say Jimmy janked it just
tied it to the wall with some
string but it hasn’t fallen yet but I
did buy a um I did buy a proper
Mount and so here’s the proper Mount I’m
going to go ahead and install them
Mount kind of
ingenious the mount allows you to have
some
tilt and then tighten up the screws so
your TV’s
level there you go now I just got to
level it
up plug it in okay Finish mounting the
TV and got it all hooked up you can
see it’s on the mount
here allows me to turn
it see if I can get back here wants me
to turn
it and put it all together it’s mounted
against the stones which isn’t really
Stones they’re more like cinder
block so yeah here we
go thank you to everyone who continues
to watch each week let us know if you
have any questions or things that you
would like to know more about as we
continue our journey in Central friends
see you next week

  2. Aimeriez-vous ne plus retourner aux US ? Que trouvez vous en France que vous ne trouvez pas chez vous ? Votre village a l'air sympathique et vous avez une jolie maison de campagne.

  3. What a lovely couple you are. Supportive of each other and agreeable. Are you in the Loire river valley? I frequent France most recently for 5 weeks at six different towns including Angers.
Your stone house is beautiful and what one would expect in that region. The lace curtains are a lovely touch too.
Any chance you might invite a few neighbors for apero? Its always nice seeing folks interacting in such a lovely place.
All best, Joe from a chilly Cape May.

  4. Bye, bye tangerine curtains – hello fresh and bright!
It's nice you're close enough to town for a stroll and lunch.

  5. Just living in a place where people don't feel the need to warehouse dead and rusting cars, old home appliances, piles of pallets, plastic barrels, and blue tarps in their front yards might make it all worthwhile. There's sure a drastic difference esthetically between small town USA and small town France!

  6. The curtains look great. Nice job. We enjoy all of your videos each week. We especially enjoy the walks to the village and doggie walks. It's such a beautiful country view. By the way…when you are commenting while walking, your voice is a bit soft and it's hard to understand what you are saying. I hope that helps. Keep up the great videos.

  7. Hello, we actually stayed in the area twice in the last year and loved it. We would very much like to buy a small house close to the lake but were told that it is hard to find. From your time there now, do you feel that it’s possible or it’s a long “wait and see” kind of situation?
