If you are new to our Wet Your Whistle segment, we started these last fall with Clayton Winehouse and had so much fun featuring tequila, bourbons, beer and wine and all the incredible food and events they have. We partnered with Defiance Ridge Vineyards at the beginning of this year featuring the wonderful wines of the Missouri region and those on the West Coast. Today we will feature a Vignoles. There are 265 acres planted in Missouri. It is a French American Hybrid Grape that was founded in 1930 creating a Riesling style of wine. It can be produced Dry, Off Dry, Sweet and Dessert style. The taste profile is ripe peaches, nectarines and pineapple. The Off Dry is the gold medal winner for Defiance Ridge. The Vignoles is a small cluster of grapes and it is hard to grow in rainy summers because of a rot issue. If you are looking to host an event or party and wonder what to pair with it, think Asian, Mexican and spicy foods, however it pairs really well with most foods like Chicken and Fish dishes.
