Church Potluck Recipes for EASTER! | Vanilla Poppyseed Bread w/ Orange Glaze and Baked French Toast
Vanilla Poppyseed Bread with Orange Glaze
Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/4 cups sugar
3 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
3 large eggs, room temperature
1-1/2 cups whole milk
1 cup melted butter
1 tablespoon poppy seeds
2 tsp vanilla
For the Glaze:
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, more or less depending on how thick you want it
1/4 cup orange juice
1 tsp vanilla
Directions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, butter, poppy seeds, and vanilla. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened.
Transfer to 2 greased and floured 9×5-in. loaf pans. Bake at 350° until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 55-60 minutes. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks. Combine glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm loaves.
Baked Bagel French Toast
Ingredients
4 plain bagels
4 large eggs
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
For the Topping:
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into cubes
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Fresh berries, for serving
Powdered sugar, for serving
Maple Syrup, for serving
Directions:
Cut bagels into 1-in.-thick slices. Arrange in a single layer in a greased 13×9-in. baking dish. Lightly beat next 6 ingredients; stir in milk and cream. Pour egg mixture over bread, turning once to coat. Refrigerate, covered, overnight.
Preheat oven to 375°. Turn bread again to coat. For topping, combine flour, brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon. Sprinkle flour mixture over bread.
Bake, uncovered, until a knife inserted in center comes out clean and topping is golden brown, 40-45 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before cutting. Top with berried and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

That you already put on the counter you sat it right there and then you proceeded to search through every cabinet in your kitchen looking for it I took it out when I was talking to y’all a minute ago and I forgot or didn’t even realize I was doing it I guess spring fever
Strikes again okay poppy seed bread with orange glaze this is a really pretty bread for Easter like to make for Easter weekend have as just a little snack sitting around on your counter it just looks really really pretty you can also do lemon poppy seed bread which I think
We already have a video on that we’ll mix our dry ingredients in here we need three cups of allpurpose flour both of these recipes that I’m making are from a church potluck magazine now we need two cups and 1/4 cup of sugar does this make one loaf or two
Makes two you know what we’re going to do we’re going to make one loaf and some muffins Jonah Cece and Manley they will definitely take care of any muffins you make any muffins we need three teaspoon of baking powder and 1 and A2 teaspoon of Salt all right dry ingredients are mixed we’re going to mix our wet ingredients in this bowl we need 1 cup melted butter I just washed three eggs real quick cuz we need three room temperature ones so I grabbed three from over there that weren’t washed yet got those cleaned up
And ready so we’ll pour in the cup of melted butter 1 and 1/2 cups of Milk three eggs about a tablespoon of poppy seeds and two teaspoons of vanilla we’ll whisk all of this together and then add it over in the bowl with the dry Ingredients okay you want to Stir It just until all the dry is moistened so you don’t want to over mix I think that’s just about right okay so we’re going to pour some of it into the bread pan and then whatever’s left we’ll make muffins with it should be about
Right okay now this goes in the oven for about 55 to 60 Minutes the muffins of course won’t take that long they’ll just take about we’ll start checking them at around 12 minutes and see how it’s Looking for breakfast in the morning I’m making some bait Bagel French toast so we’re using these plain Bagels we’re just going to break them into some small pieces you can cut them but I’m just going to break them up real quick we’ll see how many it takes this is a 9 by3
Pan so we’ll see how many it takes to fill up the pan I’m going to guess around three and 1/2 we’ll go with four I think four will be good now we’ll sit this over to the side in this bowl we need four eggs this is that one-handed crack I
Learned from Caroline Engles I know y’all have seen that episode of Little House on the Prairie when Harriet needs a cook for Nelly’s new restaurant Caroline goes in there showing off her egg cracking skills with the one-handed Crack all right so we’ve got the four eggs now we need 2 tbspoon of brown sugar 1 tblspoon of white sugar two teaspoons of vanilla 1/4 teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of maple syrup now we’re going to add two cups of milk and half a cup of heavy cream now we just pour this over the bagels and that’s it for today in the morning we’ll make the topping for it so
We just cover this now and it goes in the refrigerator Oh N would you like to taste this y’all I got this stuff it’s all over my mouth and my hand that’s good I kind of got a a light springy feel to It I got this out of the refrigerator now I’m just stirring it around making sure any of the pieces that didn’t get fully coated yesterday are stirred up in with the egg mixture got the oven preheat into 350 and we’re going to go ahead and make the topping we need 1/4 cup of allpurpose
Flour 3 tbspoon of brown sugar and 3 tbspoon of unsalted butter cut into little Cubes we’re going to shake in just a little bit of cinnamon now we’ll put this over the top and it’s going in the oven for about 40 minutes [Applause] Yes That’s great y’all around the edges like right here here that crispiness and the tops you have a crispy texture and then up under it’s fluffy and all it’s great and it’s a good breakfast for Easter morning cuz you can make it the night before you could also go ahead and mix
Up your topping and just have it in the refrigerator and then put it on before you put it in the oven those crispy edges are wonderful make that one y’all we just found Easter morning breakfast right here See

I had to laugh when you said when you get older you can't remember where things were, your still young. I'm 76 and I do the dumbest things, looking for things in the wrong place, or putting things away in the wrong place.
