Canning French fries?! Who knew! First time trying this canning recipe. I am planning on doing it again and hoping for a better outcome haha.

So i’m going to try canning french fries today because that seems kind of an interesting canning recipe and i kind of want to see if our family even likes it i only want to can things that are really tasty so let’s try this so i washed my um

My jars with soapy water hot soapy water as they tell you to i’ve been following along the one of the ladies on youtube on how to can potatoes french fries so we’re going to test this out this is just all a test i think this is super cool like that’s really cool okay

I have my french fries here look at those french fries i never thought that you could can french fries maybe we won’t like this method because we are picky with about our fries and my husband makes some really good fries he can make some really good homemade fries

This if this is like just as good or better then i just want to try it this is just a this is just trying canning is so fun it’s so rewarding like i’m addicted i want to try all the canning things i’m just so like fascinated

With making your own food that you can store away for a while and it’s delicious look at this i got two french fries that’s cool that’s cool that’s cool man all right next at this point room temperature Now i need to de-bubble them 40 minutes okay now this is it coming out and it’s cooling down it’s very dark i didn’t think it was gonna be that dark but i guess it’s cooked sorry it’s dark it’s nighttime the lighting is horrible right now and i am ready to go to bed here is the fry

Fried it up i’m not very impressed i think i packed it too much because i can’t get it out without squishing the tomato uh tomato without squishing the potato tastes more like uh it’s hot careful they taste more like a hash brown because they’re so mushy in the inside than a fry

Yeah but my i don’t think i’m gonna give up i’m not i’m not very impressed with this but i only did do two quarts in one huge pressure canner they said the least that you can do is two quarts so i just did two quarts but i think that overcooked them

Because they’re really really dark compared to the people’s videos and they’re very very mushy i’m sure you know whether i i can’t them again i’m sure they’re going to be mushy but i don’t think this mushy this is like this is overcooked do you see how dark they are next time

I think i am going to do this again but i’m going to do it with a full tanner so yeah you want it he wants me to make more so i’m going to be making more

  1. Thank You for your honesty. Cheers from Pennsylvania Blessings 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎚🎚🎚

  2. To have success canning potatoes to use for fries you have to can them dry (no water added to jar), which isn't recommended by the powers that be, but hey it's your food and there's lots of videos on how to do it. I've been canning for over 30 years, taught preserving in my county and me I would never go through the trouble because you can keep spuds in a cool place for months and quickly make fries. I can all year, keep lots of soups and stews in the pantry along with veggies/fruit we grow but if it's easier to not can it I don't bother. Good luck!

  3. I have done this I think it works better with Yukon potatoes or (white?) potatoes something with less starch. Keep in fridge and rinse several times. Since I canned so many while experimenting I have a lot that I use for mashed potatoes or hash browns but if I choose to use for French fries I put them on a cookie in freezer for a bit then deep fry them. It’s a bit more work but they are good.
