Episode #14
Signs of early spring have been spotted and this gives us the motivation we need to finish the last of the block work. Our friend Budo takes time away from his own homestead to survey our land and plans are put in place for a huge excavation! The energy is shifting, birds are singing, clean up is happening, compost is turning. Will we make our March 1st deadline to move to the property?

Souls I treated for so many years BL and I were happy healthy and we were living a happily ever after so why did we give all that up to slug through the mud and rain and work ourselves to the Bone until we could just about drop and of all places
France mostly we wanted land we had looked for about 2 years in the US and nothing panned out we were either out bid or found land in our budget but in undesirable areas we had heard France had Old Farms to renovate and that they were affordable and a life without a
Mortgage was very attractive to us we knew the price to pay would be years of hard work I don’t think we knew just how hard the work would be but hey we are crazy dreamers the bloke and I are two creative forces who met just over four years ago a
Blessing for us both as we had both surrendered to life on our onesies as bloke would say our souls crave new experiences and Adventure they always have and we wanted to have at least one big one together to share all our reasons in one video would be an
Impossible task there are many other reasons and perhaps this summer in the courtyard will explain more of our nice bottle of wine level that’s level so way off this is way off this wall but we’re going to get it level and the window’s going to go on top of that
So here we are and yes there have been days we have both questioned our decision and wondered what we have gotten ourselves into and then there are days we can’t believe our dream is coming true bit time yeah see cut you know cutting there he’s on there I mean Jesus Yeah Hey oh oh oh Oh Hey oh Oh Hey in any new story you always meet new characters and today we were blessed with the return of a very lovable character buo from French Farmhouse Diaries just look at this bright shining star how can you not just love him I would B this out B the bottom yeah and

Their Journey we are all waiting for a good break in the weather so the ground can dry out enough for budo to get his Digger over here hopefully in March thank you budo for taking the time away from your own projects and busy Homestead to help us with our big
Drainage problem it’s amazing to think what this is going to look like after it’s all fixed the water problem so we’re going to come up and out right about there with Phil and then have one two and one behind me three soakaways and uh we’ll be in really good shape so close

Ooooooohhhhhhh I love the coloured glass door. How wonderful. Greetings from Australia.
Sometimes if difficult to explain motivation to another person unless they too have experienced that peculiar longing for something different. Trust in the dream, and the rest of us will follow until we either catch the fever or give up and look for something else. Those of us who stick will be friends and fellow enthusiasts.
@frenchfarnhousediaries is a fab channel. Budo and Tracy are amazing!
Love ❤️ the door, and window.
You are going to be cozy there. March 1st here you come. Peace and calm emanate from you both. May all beings be happy and free.
Dose the sun ever shine there. I don’t feel I could live in such a wet, cold climate.
Hopefully the summer will be better for you.
Hello from PEI Canada.
Oh I so enjoy your channel.
Hi my heart turned heavy when you told the story of what you both had and left behind ! But don’t question your self’s look forward and smile as the weather will turn and you will see the progress you are making. Then with new beliefs the future will look brighter and it’s onwards and upwards and I believe in you both, like your shoe you seem to me you are put your hearts and soul into it. Please keep up the hard good work as you know plan and execute and all will happen much quicker than you think.
Dave & Lynn
Bit of gaffa tape wrapped round that shoe should do the trick, lol
The ivy stem's that are on the tree, cut a 6 inch peice out of each of them and prise them off tree. On ground level make a collar of tape and fill with salt, hopfully it will kill root's.
That daff is early 😮
Thank you for sharing your personal stories! Your videos are light hearted, not too much technical stuff!! 🤗
Just watched for the first time… Budo is very knowledgeable and he and his wife are lovely friends to have .. very brave of you to take a chance and move to have a better life…!!!
Enjoyed from Texas!
Your dream is child’s play when compared to a Dutch guy who bought an abandoned Village in Portugal. It’s been over five years since he has been renovating one or two houses at a time, with very little help.
You guys are making great progress!
So what is your short term plan ? Are you planning on living in the barn section that you are currently working on with a kitchen bedroom lounge / bathroom area and then start on the rest of the barn conversion a plan of attack would be great for the viewers cheers
Guys, don’t get angry on me now, but you can’t afford to buy land in France too… with your budget you should bought land in Eastern Europe and not fancy France…
Everyday, step by step, you are moving forward and it already shows. I can’t wait till you get all dried out around the house. It will mage a Huge difference. Take care❤❤❤
Very impressive progress all completed in an apparent stress free environment. Watching and listening to your journey is a joy , your serenity is captivating. bon chance
Hey. This is going great, very neat. Very professional. Keep it up, bon courage, vous aller arriver. ❤❤
Amazing progress! And we really appreciate your back story. Can you tell us a bit about how you have been able to emigrate, generally speaking (as, for us both as Aussie citizens without dual nationality, its near impossible)?
Fantastic progress ❤
Another great blog. Great seeing you both work well together. One question did you key in the new block work with the old.
It's brilliant watching the progress you're making! It's going to be such a stunning place when you're done with it 🙂
I had picked Mr Bloke as a finance adviser, Mrs Bloke a Writer, as I love listen to your words of endeavour, your love for the simple things, your passion to strive for a home, thank you so much so your adventure, which shall be so enjoyed from Australia

Once again, thank you for taking us along with you. Keep plugging away at it and it will be done, it's like putting pennies in a jar…..
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys , what's rong with the tractor , get the ivy out of the trees or they are going to die just cut the branches and pull them out,
We own a small house in Isigny-le-Buat, I would advice you to place a velux window on the north side of the roof above the balustrade, the stairs in our case… it really opens up the place
Progress! Great going!
AS soon as u put the door and window in u can see u half way there . Well done .
Have we got an artiste , ❤
I so enjoy watching your videos, the changes are amazing from beginning to now. I’m looking forward to the time you will be able to bring your fur babies to the homestead, they will love exploring the new and exciting surroundings. Wishing you both good health and sunny days ahead, from Michigan.
If you have your tractor outside put an upturned plastic bottle over the exhaust to keep the rain out of the engine, assuming it has a vertical exhaust that is!
You are so inspirational. Love and thanks from Canada. Best, jane
❤❤
The ivy in the threes might be cleaned by using crowbar? Once the one down the trees cleaned, the upper part would died slowly. Thre trees I am sure will strength the character of the front yard
Good luck guys. We did the same. The land, the area is the best. It is what keeps us here in lower Normandy. Xxx
Found your channel recently and we have watched all your videos! Absolutely loving your adventure of living the dream! We are hoping to make a similar journey within the next few years! Looking forward to seeing your next video! You 2 are the best!
Terrific progress. This is the hardest stage – you arrived in winter to start a Herculean task. If you can get through this, and establish yourself at the property by the spring, nothing will seem as bad afterwards. Roll on the installation of the French drains …
