The best cold brew coffee maker I own is a mason jar, only because my French press wasn't big enough
I just do coffee grounds+water into a glass jar in the morning, let it sit at room temp for 24hr. V60 + paper filter into my mug. Repeat every morning.
Fresh cold brew everyday. Been doing it for years.
I received a Zulay 1 gallon cold brew coffee maker as a gift and its one of the best gifts I've received. Fits right in the fridge, built in spout, and lasts me for 4 or 5 days. The spout leaks a couple drops from time to time but thats my only criticism.
I use a 40-ounce brewing carafe. pouring warm tap water over grounds held in a silicon mesh basket. stir the grounds as you add water to make sure they are all wet. pop that in the refrigerator for 10 hours or more. as the water cools, it circulates through the carafe and grounds.
.. I am going to have to look for the other commentor's Zulay system
The decade I have spent trying to explain to ppl (and baristas) that I want cold brew served hot lol I thought when cold brew caught on in like 2015ish it would get easier, but no. So much marketing and yet so little understanding. I’m so happy to see ATK explain this! Toddy was my first cold brewer in 2012 and I liked it a lot for about a year … But then the filtering and extracting was annoyingly inefficient. I have used infuser types as well but the volume output & extraction is also lower in my experience. I now use an extra large very standard very not fancy or expensive French press – so easy to use, easy to clean and I love love love it!
My parents were using this method in the 70’s and your equipment looks very similar to what they used. Mostly used for hot coffee from the concentrate. I’ve lived in places where this is done with tea as well.
I’ve had one of these since the 80’s. We made ice cubes then used them to make hot coffee.
I have always found cold brew to be overpoweringly SOUR! Floral and fruity, sure, but it's like grape fruit. Way too tart.
