Take their produce maintenance very seriously and became the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food since February of 2016 they need to do that here because there’s so much food waste here it’s ridiculous hey how’s it going guys welcome back to the channel

We’re going to be checking out France today um we got right here geography Now France by of course the original Channel geography now and the links to that will be in the description section down below as usual and uh yeah we’re going to check it out there

Was another video that I was going to do that’s like seven French habits Americans don’t like or or something like that or Americans find rude but I I was like you know what before I do some French stuff uh we’re going to go ahead and do the geography Now

France so uh yeah we’re going to check it out and jog for now is a good Channel you should go check it out yourself come it’s time to learn geography no hey everyone I’m your host Barbie ah France pretty much everybody on the planet has heard of this place I mean immediately

Images of wine cafes embellished 18th century Baro architecture and people who really hate globalization of the English language but take a step back even further and France becomes a place with Jaguars coconuts volcanoes p Penguins grass skirts War dances bamboo flutes witch doctors and a multifaceted history

That has evolved into a people group into becoming one of the most notable Nations on the planet H okay that’s news to me I didn’t know there was baboons and and coconuts maybe that was like back in the day like before like the global climate change

Before the last ice age or something I don’t know but then again France is kind of like in southern Europe sou Southwestern Europe uh right above Spain H maybe the Southern parts of France I don’t know we’re going to find out I don’t see the first thing you to know about

France is that it’s not just European but a transcontinental country that spans across 12 time zones more than any other country in the world what 12 time zones France is kind of divided into two main parts the European Metropolitan France where about 95% of the population lives and the overseas French regions

Dep depart and territories otherwise known as the department or before that’s that that explains the 12 time zone thing all right let’s go before we tell you what they are let’s explain the difference between them regions have exactly the same legal status as Mainland France and the same civil penal code and administrative

Social tax laws however they can be slightly adapted to suit the Region’s particular needs in collectivities the autonomy Rises and they are empowered to make their own laws except in certain areas like defense currency trade and diplomacy the overseas regions are guadaloop and martinque in the Caribbean

French Guyana in South America which by the way has the cural Space Center disputably the best in the world because it adds an extra gravitational slingshot effect because it’s so close to the equator of the earth and reunion and myot off the coast of East Africa the overseas collectivities are French

Polynesia you’ve probably heard of Tahiti that’s French poesia as well as Wallace and Futuna in the Pacific St Pierre mikon right off the coast of Canada St paremi and St Martin which is the only place in France that has a border with the Netherlands as the Dutch

Own the southern part of the Island located all in the Caribbean the only islands that lie under the title of overseas territories are the French Southern and Antarctic Islands or the taaf these islands are made up of the Kellan Islands the St Paul and Amsterdam Islands you can probably guess who used

To own those the cro islands and AD Deli Land the claimed slice of Antarctica that is technically not recognized thanks to the Antarctic treaty and as of 2000 that’s one thing I’d understand this whole Antarctic treaty thing like I I I’m not trying to get into conspiracy

Theories or you know anything like that necessarily but like why the secrecy with Antarctica you know why is it so protected I don’t know 2007 the scattered islands in the Indian Ocean remember the Cal episode were added to make the fifth district of the territory even though half of them are disputed

With Koral sells and Marias these islands are mostly uninhabited and only house temporary military or scientific Personnel finally France administers two special territories that don’t quite fall into any of the previously mentioned categories there’s the uninhabited clipperton Island off the coast of Mexico which has a crazy murder

Story behind it and last but not least there’s New Caledonia which has a special particular status out of the French administered overseas territories New Caledonia is the only one that’s vying for a kind of somewhat Independence as the political power was passed to the native kanak peoples

There’s a weird dual French EU and new Caledonian citizenship thing going on and in 2018 they will hold a referendum to either remain or leave France and thanks to all these territories they in what what they will hold a referend EU and new Caledonian citizenship thing

Going on and in 2018 they will hold 2018 New Caledonia huh let’s see what happened here new calonia Independence did they get it an independent an independence referendum was held in New Caledonia a French territory in the south pafic on December 12th 2021 the vote was the third and final to be

Held under the terms of the nomea Accord following votes in 2018 and 2020 in which Independence was rejected so it’s still a French colal okay well it didn’t work for them right is it a separate country situated in the heart of the Pacific the new calonia is not technically a country but

Is instead recognized as a French overseas territory okay so uh didn’t work out so well form I guess hold a referendum to either remain or leave France and thanks to all these territories they together give France the second largest executive economic zone in the world after the US wow now

Let’s go back to Metropolitan Europe France the country is located in Western Europe bordered by eight other nation states don’t forget little andur and Monaco along the coast by the English Channel and the Bay of bisque in the north and west as well as the Mediterranean Sea to the South Mainland

France is sometimes referred to as the hexagon since if you tilt your head a little bit it kind of looks like it has six sides quite frankly I was always under the impression that it kind of looked like a teapot with feet Mainland France is also divided into 13 I can

Totally see the teapot that’s interesting regions including Corsica Island 18 altogether if you include the overseas regions with the capital largest city as well as the main cultural and Commercial Center Paris we could talk on and on about Paris what with the unbelievably designed Metropolitan layout the rich vibrant

Atmosphere the jux deposition of classically adorned historical sites along the catacombs I see get it neoc contemporary architecture the food the shops and of course but that in itself will take too long and we got to get through three more segments the busiest airports are the two Paris twins Charles deal and

Orle international as well as n cazu and the second and third largest cities Leon exu and Mar provance International those kind of reminded me I mean that looks like a spaceship the other one looked like uh kind of reminded me of like the um the Sydney Opera House and the second

And third yeah that has like that same kind of like rounded flow to the top that is very cool looking L cities yeah right there it’s got a Opera Sydney Opera House kind of vibe to it and Mar provance International at around 643,000 Square km France is the largest country

In the EU the interesting thing about France is that it’s kind of divided into areas that historically had their own distinct cultural ident identity that’s interesting I thought Germany was the largest in the EU EU I guess it’s France okay the more you know of the most notable ones being oxitan savoo Britney

Normandy alsas a section of the Bas country n and the island of Corsica which speaks its own dialect most French people can’t even understand these regions contribute their own Unique Piece of the French pie speaking of pie we all know about French food which is great because we’re going to discuss

More about it in french fries aren’t from France guys hate to break your bubble they come from Belgium if you look at France’s physical makeup you start to kind of understand why food plays such a huge role in their culture everything just kind of works out perfectly for them for Metropolitan

France Big Rich nourishing rivers and their tributaries like the gonon moose and Ron entangle the entire country north to south east to west allowing an abundance of irrigated crop fields to exist in nearly every corner of the country now add on top of that the fact that the country does not have

Any major fault lines they enjoy a nice Oceanic European climate clate and they don’t suffer regularly from any major natural catastrophes most of the country is made up of aable flat PLS or small Rolling Green Hills that are just begging for cultivation and voila you have an agricultural gold mine in fact

Out of every country in the EU France reportedly has the highest quality of soil performance and resilience and only a few spots like in the Caucasus region and parts of Eastern Europe and Southern Russia rank higher so there you go food Haven in the South you reach the mountainous regions of France including

The Pyrenees along the border with Spain the Massif Central plateaus one of the most geologically studied places in Europe due to this strange formation the Alps all along the borders with Italy and Switzerland by the way Switzerland was all like I’m not going to share Lake

Lan it’s mine and that’s how Geneva was born the highest point in France that alone all of the EU is Mont Blanc found in the French Alps along the border with Italy only second in height to the Caucasus Mountains in all of Europe if you consider the Caucasus region a part

Of Europe some people don’t but that’s just that’s another story France is a cornucopia of produce Dairy and meat every region has their own specialty but two things are everywhere cheese and wine the largest consumers of cheese with over 1200 different varieties found all over the country the French also

Have a larger range of unconventionally consumed meat products most countries stick with beef chicken pork maybe lamb or goat and fish however the French aren’t satisfied with just that other animals like pheasant duck goose quail rabbit venison ve horse frogs and snails are okay so yeah venison’s the thing

Here people you can’t go buy to the store but you can get your haunting permit and then go uh you know h deer and kill it which deer is venison if you didn’t know um there is people that hunt rabbit and eat it Quail I’ve heard of

People eating quail and of course duck but it’s not like a huge common thing consumed regularly speaking of which the national animal is the G rooster which is why you might typically see a lot of roosters on French Affiliated symbols in fact France is one of the most entomophagous that’s insect eating

Countries in Europe as about 700 million snails are estimated to be consumed every year by the that’s I don’t know I mean maybe it’s good I never tried it but I don’t I don’t really want to try it and I never really thought about that

But yeah I guess a snail is an insect that’s that’s a that’s a gross thought the French especially in burgundy the largest snail producing region in France unfortunately due to the fact that the French are the highest consumers of raw or mildly cooked red meats a huge portion of the population is either

Exposed or chronically infected by the Toxoplasma gondi parasite that disputably over half of the population is suspected to have this little guy eventually Finds Its way into your brain changes people’s behaviors into being either more caring or aggressive and suspicious look it up I’m not even

Joking the wow so maybe that’s why the French people are like well they got a lot of riots there maybe that that’s the part that’s getting more aggressive and then the whole you know love thing of Paris might be the people that’s getting that’s becoming more caring because of that

Virus that’s I never heard of that that’s crazy the alpes are famous for their shakery and fondue Britney for its Crepes cantel for its chestnuts Dijon for its mustard laon for aligo for champagne and then we get to B now I didn’t know that Dijon mustard came from

France interest and Crepes Crepes are amazing by the way first of all every region of France likes to claim that they have the best wine however it’s widely known that Balo is disputably the home of the largest wine vineyards in the world pumping out over half a

Billion liters of wine a year the French take their produce maintenance very seriously and became the first country in the world to ban supermarkets from throwing away or destroying unsold food since February of 2016 they need to do that here because there’s so much food waste here it’s ridiculous all

Businesses must donate wastage to either Charities or food banks to combat crop wastage on farms France has even opened up ugly fruit or vegetable shops in which you can buy disfigured produce for 30% off other than food stuffs though main exports are aircraft chemicals Machinery Iron and Steel Electronics

Motor vehicles and pharmaceuticals of course the overseas territories and regions also have climates and topographies that are completely different Caribbean islands and Guyana enjoy a warm Caribbean tropical iCal climate Guyana being part of the Amazon having one of the highest Forest cover densities in the world at over 95% with

Over 1100 species of birds and reptiles and mammals found in it reunion and myot off the coast of Africa have Deep Jungle Ravines and a common volcanic activity going on the scattered islands are mostly uninhabited sandbanks and lagoons with nothing more than just a few trees and shrubs the southern Antarctic

Islands are Rocky and desolate with few grasses and vegetation kwellin has these cabbage looking things going on and these islands typically freeze over in the winter with penguins ceding off the coast nice Penguins I didn’t know any french territory had Penguins that’s cool calonia and French Polynesia are

Tropical Pacific Islands that enjoy an abundance of Rich unspoiled thick jungle brush and colorful flowers and of course adeli land is like all ice and Antarctica all right we’ve discussed borders boundaries mountains food volcanoes now let’s talk about who’s running the entire show who’s running it who’s running the

Show of people that are very very intent on making sure that you know they are French first of all the country has about 67 million people and is the second largest in Europe after Germany making 133% of the EU alone about 85% of the population is white 10% are North

African mostly from the mreb regions a little over 3% are black and a little less than 2% are Asian the currency is a euro they use the type CF outlets and they drive on the right side of the road which makes things interesting when their neighbors from the UK come across

The Chunnel now let’s talk about oh so when they get across they have to like switch l that probably makes it confusing going back and forth the white people most white French people have some or partial Celtic or gulish Origins as historically the GS inhabited most of the centralized

Regions of modern day France that means genetically the French and British have a lot more in common than they think of course an ad mixture of Latin and Germanic Roots also applies as all three people groups had their stake of claim in France as well the name France even

Came from the Germanic Frank tribe French is of course the official language however Regional dialects do exist but for the most part they do pretty well at making sure everyone speaks it granted the linguistic zones that we mentioned before each have their own flag still cling on to their mother

Tongue and sometimes you can even find street signs written in these languages for example Brittain a Celtic based language related to Welsh and Irish found in Britany Basque in the Bas country oxitan and oxitan corsicans have like this strange half French half Italian hybrid thing going on keep in

Mind though most of the languages spoken in the linguistic zones are kind of dying out and only the older generation really retains daily conversation in those languages out yeah yeah I I feel like that’s how it is in a lot of countries actually like you got all these different regions that have their

Own you know dialects and accents or whatever different versions of that language but since you know the globalization or like whatever nationalities you know like TV shows that would be like in France right are going to only be in specific dialects or whatever so it would kind of

Snuff out the rest of them outside of Metropolitan France the overseas departments and territories each speak French but in typically have their own Crees or dialects for example in the Caribbean Martin and guadaloop might say Sak Tu in reunion or mayot they might say k France is the most visited country

In the world as more people than the entire population of France visit France annually at about 80 million culture wise there is too much to discuss I mean we are talking Millennia of tribes Wars Empires Heroes villains artists poets Architects kings queens Guillotines revolutions inventions music dance clothing Fashion Cinema Cuisine

Discoveries victories losses folklore science literature medicine and baguettes to cover that’s a lot of information jeez all we would need a whole separate YouTube channel but for what it’s worth since the Middle Ages France has been able to show time after time again that it has been a global

Force to be reckoned with I mean the French at one point in time had the second largest Empire in the world spanning across virtually every region on every continent one thing wow I didn’t know that and I didn’t know that they owned oh wait that would explain

The French Indian War right yeah cuz that’s that’s a big chunk of North America there huh one point in time had the second largest Empire in the world spanning across virtually every region on every continent one thing you have to understand is that in a fast growing anglophone driven global economy France

Is very very firmly intent on preserving the French language and culture the governmentally sanctioned Academy France has aimed at doing this since 1634 they do things like somewhat unsuccessfully Banning foreign words such as blog # parking email and weekend in addition they ban foreign words so what you what

Would you use instead of like email and stuff like that’s almost like a global word at this point the French media’s top Regulators the CSA and CNC have strictly enforced policies that require all music on private radio to be at least of 40% French origin and 70% in the French

Language between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and half the music quota must be less than 6 months old everything must be French France is of course home to a plethora of notable figures in every field of Academia and athleticism I mean they have almost 70 Noel Peace Prize winners including

Famous chemists Pierre and Marie C few people know that they had a daughter who also became a notable scientist other scientists writers and philosophers like deal Pascal bodair fler pastur chat Bon who by the way invented the metric system musicians like ramlo Luli deusi Jac ID PF of course we can’t forget the

Fashion icons Louis Vuitton Koko Chanel and Christen d I mean it’s no secret France is often touted as the fashion capital of the world artists like mon wga man and go and of course what’s an episode about France without mentioning anything about Kings Louis I 14th and

16th jonar and Napoleon in a simple way of putting it French culture is very vibrant and proud the French love where they’ve come from and how they go about doing things the Catholic Church once played a major role and to this day even as a secular state with dwindling Church

Attendees many French people still in the very least identify nominally as Catholic mostly for a cultural thing it’s just their history and they don’t want to toss it away they also love taking breaks and getting their sleep on average the French get about 8.83 hours of sleep every day more than any other

Country in the developed world and they also have some of the shortest work weeks with only about 6 to 7 hours on average a day and that’s enough for them it’s not uncommon to see people taking time off in the middle of the day early evening just to relax and take a nap

They even have a word for it de which literally translates to the hour of the apparati people can also claim State Pension at age 62 making one of the lowest retirement ages in the world of course the sport French people rank highest in the world going on strike I

Mean the last thing yeah I was going to say there’s a lot of protests and stuff there like all you want to do is interrupt a Frenchman’s nap during a 6-hour shift with corporate policy changes yep the world can be a cruel cruel place let’s see how France survives in the

Jungle there’s a lot of information in this video I forgot it’s been a long time since I did a geography now reaction I forgot how much is just jam-packed into it this is good I don’t know how much I’ll I’ll retain though you know what I mean it’s just so

Much so fast when it comes to France they don’t discriminate they hate everyone equally no but seriously France has their eyes on a few people and when they see what they like they cling on and make you a treasure first of all frankophone Nations and Latin based former Roman Legacy Nations generally

Get the high seats especially their neighbors like Switzerland Luxembourg Italy and Spain Quebec Canada is to France kind of like what the USA is to the UK they adore each other they love each other’s accents but they love making fun of each other even more even though they are really close Algeria

Morocco and Tunisia are the closest African nations as they make up the largest African immigrant demographics followed by subsaharan African countries like Cameroon and kotoa or Ivory Coast for France cot that’s the name of a chocolate from Belgium or Netherlands or something and it’s it’s good that is

Damn good chocolate Japan is seen as like the epitome of exoticism similar to themselves the Japanese have a rich culture of noble tradition things like castles attire food likewise Japan sort of shares the same Mutual Fascination and see France as like its European alternate universe twin there’s no two

Countries that like to poke fun of and borderline harass each other with the French as the UK and the USA as historical Rivals with the UK I mean they did have a 100-year war with them and the USA busting their chops about World War II all the time all sides like

To saiz each other in cartoons and media all the time nonetheless they are actually really close the UK and France have been Crossing Borders and intermarrying for centuries Commerce and student exchanges are high and the US was helped by the French during the Revolutionary War and they even gave the

Statue of Liberty as a presentent so far Americans thank France for Lady Liberty okay it was a kind gesture France’s best friends though would probably be Germany and Belgium it’s kind of funny because historically the only country that was consistently an opponent of France was Germany ever since the split of

Charlamagne’s empire in three most of Europe’s history was driven by the overarching Rivalry between variations of France and all variations of Germany including the Holy Roman Empire the tonic order Prussia and of course the Third Reich but the plot twist was the creation of the EU following Robert schuman’s speech that states explicitly

That for Europe to even hope to work the millennial old rivalry between France and Germany has to be resolved for good ever since 1950 France and Germany have taken a lot of political inspiration off of each other heads of states have visited each other on numerous occasions

And both countries have been the biggest advocates for the survival of the union and Belgium is like their little brother that moved out and got a dutch-speaking roommate and visits France every so often to raid their fridge and do their laundry yeah the wnia region Southern of Belgium speaks French and the Flanders

Or Flemish region uh in the north speaks Dutch except for Brussels is in the Flanders region and Brussels is mainly French speaking that’s a little bit that I’ve gathered in conclusion the stay tuned France’s Rich former Little Colony Gabon is coming up next yeah so uh I don’t I don’t speak French or

Anything but it sounds like the dude has a a good French accent like he he sounds again I don’t speak French so maybe I’m wrong but he sounds like he knows uh knows his French pretty well well yeah that was a ton a ton a ton of information just jam-packed into one

Episode guys so if you enjoy this kind of stuff hit like hit subscribe I do a ton of different reactions on different countries a lot of uh a lot of the Netherlands uh other countries stuff like that and of course dumb Americans yeah so have a super fun

Awesome day and I’ll catch you in the next one take care bye

  1. New Caledonia wasn’t technically longer a “colony” for a while… they voted to keep the french citizenship thrice by referendum and it must be said we kind of never heard much about them in TV news beside the times these referendums took place…

One cannot think the vote is foiled. They are pretty autonomous for a very long time. Of course it still a strategic place in the pacific for European Union and China has tried many time to put their feet into the land because of its natural gas and lithium reserves…

We are still vigilant about their menacing actions.

  2. New Caledonia is not a "colony", but a French "territory" where the citizens are of French nationality, and enjoy the same status as the Metropolitan French!

When you say "it didn't work out well for them", Charlie, they CHOSE BY REFERENDUM to remain French!

  3. In this video, Charlie, you got a glimpse of how beautiful France is. If – and when – you'll have the chance to fulfilll your dream of visiting The Netherlands (which I hope you'll have soon), remember that France is a short fast train hop away.

Take the opportunity to come and visit us : Paris is well worth a visit, but the country has much more to offer than just its capital.
Take a look at this, for starters: "Rick Steves France Full episodes" – Brenton Sams 1 / 13

  4. Antarctica is a continent covered with ice and with, probably, vast resources. Arctica isn't. It's an ice sheet. And the Belgians buy their potaoes from The Netherlands. Funny. Snails. "you never want to try it"? With your attitude the human race would have died out without even starting. Dyon? Where did you think it was? Just google!

  5. Now you know why France probably has the world's longest domestic flights!
I don't know of any other country that has 9 to 12 hour domestic flights operated on 777-300ER and A350-1000 year round with passengers only needing their national ID card or driving license.
Or any other country where civil servants, nurses, doctors, teachers etc. can work freely in both hemispheres outside of the sub-tropical regions.

  6. Under that big ice shelf. There is a fortune in minerals! Like, gold, oil, diamonds. And the material to build batteries. Which we all need so much. They last 8 years! And extracting the material. you can drive for 20 with the car you have now.

  7. Gauls tribe was named Galli in Romans'latin witch meant roosters too. So the Gauls were very prouds people, like roosters. French choose this animal for emblem.
Instead of mail, we are supposed to use courriel… French Accademy takes care of the French dictionary, includes new words or proposes new words

  8. The part about the parasite bs is absolute nonsense, the guy probably read a sensationalist pseudo-scientific article about the thing and thought it was real: it's anecdotal at best. Barby has gotten better with his research in the years since. Also calling New Caledonia a colony is the same as calling Hawaii or Texas a colony. It denies its inhabitants their free will.

  9. "More than 40 million men, women, and children in the U.S. carry the Toxoplasma parasite" CDC, in France the last rate in 2019 was 31% of the population and it goes down. Carrying doesn't mean sick !

  10. All French people doesn't drink wine ! I'm from Normandy, and here it's cider and calvados but sometimes, not every day ! Personally i drink tap water.

  11. On "Nouvelle Calédonie", you're "didn't work out for them" is a bit misleading ? they vote at 3 differents times for their indépendance. They vote NO so we can assume that is what they WANT ? So i' would say actually that what they want is to stay part of France and part of European Union.
Is it bad for pro independance people? yes but they are not the Majority of the people living in Nouvelle Calédonie as the 3 votes stated.

  12. How dare they calling Jacques Brel French, he is Belgian just like the fries. He sings in French and was very popular over there. But he was Belgian, I think even voted most important Belgian in Wallonia.

  13. A lot of the food is given to a charity called resto du coeur (restaurant of the heart) which was set up to provide meals to the homeless by a comedian known as Coluche shortly before he died in a motorbike accident. Every year bikers throughout France have a fund raising ride out in his memory

  14. French here. Snails are definitely NOT insects but gasteropods. The parasite thing and its influence on mood, I had never heard of before watching this video (and I do love my steak "bleu" aka almost raw. He must mistake it for tapeworm, which can occur in undercooked or raw meat (but 7 days in deep freeze before consumption is enough to kill it).
18:08 Not 70+ "Nobel Peace" prizes but 70 Nobel prizes… Discovering radioactivity didn't lend Marie Curie a "Peace" prize.
All in all, a lot of inaccuracies… and mispellings too ("Chams" Elysées instead of Champs Elysées, "Chantal" instead of Cantal, "Ramleau" instead of Rameau, etc.)

And Dijon Mustard doesn't need to come from or been made in France. What makes mustard "Dijon Mustard" is the recipe.

  15. Brel was Belgian not French. So much inaccuracies in the video you've reacted. The dude, as you call it, has a bad french accent.

  16. I am French, this video is misleading on many points.
This guy who calls himself a French descendant has certainly never set foot in France and is content to relay a cliché.

  17. About not wasting food, what is not said in the video is that, in France, it"s mandatory for all food stores/supermarkets to have a special counter with all fresh goods being on the verge of their expiration dates being offered at a discounted price.

I don't mean to boast about it, but I signed the citizens' petition for this to happen. The advantage is three-fold: 1) Even in our societiy of abundance, wasting food is a moral crime; 2) many people need to reduce their food price tag; 3) when wondering, as evey day "What shall I eat/prepare today?", the answer often lies in that special counter ("Oh, pork chops! I've got peas and carrots at home so, that will be perfect for tonight …").

  18. Thanks for your France Journey ! When you say "it didnt work for them" about New Caledonia, that's incorrect.
They chose, they voted a lot of times to stay French , that's a win for them. Its the same for every overseas territories, they want to be French, i mean… look at the neighbours who are indépendants, the choice is easy, they arent in slavery or whatever

  19. "french fries " dont come from belgium. It was invented in Paris . There is a museum in Belgium proving that fries were from France. On the other hand it s the belgium people that made the fries shine with their way of cooking them

  20. 17:37 "Email" is mostly used, but "Couriel" is also used.
I'm hearing more and more people using "Pouriel" to say "Spam", like our cousins de la belle province.
19:28 You need 173 quarters of contributions to be able to do so.
19:38 Now even Dutch and Germans are taking the habit

  21. This is false, the fries are of French origin.
Food historian Pierre Leclerc, a Belgian, gives the origin of fries. “It is clear that the fried potato was invented at the beginning of the 19th century in Paris,” he explains to the media Brut. "It was born in the Parisian street, it was born in the hands of the fried food sellers of the Parisian street. And it was they who made the fried potato the popular emblematic Parisian dish of the 19th century before this fry is exported to Belgium. So, it is clear that the fry is of French origin." It's a Belgian who says it: the fries are French. But then why do we believe that they come from Belgium? Pierre Leclerc continues: "During the 20th century, the fried potato deserted the streets of Paris at the same time as it reached Belgium. And established itself in Belgium as the national dish. The Belgians therefore naturally believed that the fried potato was of Belgian origin".

  22. This was true 10 years ago… today France is disappearing and its culture is erased. France is no longer a sovereign country but a region dependent on the European community. its identity is revealed by its own government. france is dying …

  23. French Fries are FRENCH not Belgian, they were invented in Paris, it has been said several times on Belgian TV. Even a Belgian historian said it. 😉
By the way, I have never heard of a toxoplasma gondii epidemic in France. I wonder where he got that?

  24. A) Snails aren't insects!! They are molluscs.
    B) Snails don't taste very much at all. The most of any snail meal is garlic, herbs and lots of butter.
    C) New Caledonia – it's difficult to say that the rejection of independence didn't work for them – most of their household is paid for by France and the EU and for their trade and economy, they still depend on France
    D) Secrecy Antarctica – there is nothing secret about Antarctica, they even have some regular tourism there; the area is only restricted in the way that the geosystem is so fragile that even little impact may have wide-ranging effects! Don't fall for conspiracy theories…
