Day 14
Calzadilla to Bercianos del Real Camino – 32 km.
We have had a good walk today. The weather was much kinder which makes the hike more pleasurable.
We caught another spectacular sunrise this mornings. This is the highlight of our morning and a good reason to get up before sunrise.
A 10 km walk before breakfast and this morning we had something a little bit different, bacon and eggs on French fired toast. Oh my goodness – it was fantastic.
Funnily enough we didn’t see the Irish ladies on our walk today, wonder how their heads are this morning.
We ended up going a little bit out of our way today as little towns get a bit sneaky and paint yellow arrows on the road and black out the real way so that they get the traffic and monetary gain in their village. We realized after a couple of 2km so had to back track. Luckily it didn’t cause us too much grief.
Today marks our halfway. I am so proud of us. We also passed through the halfway mark of the Spanish Camino which is Roncesvalles to Sahagun we have done more than half now – we are under 370km to go. What better way than to celebrate with a plank between the pillars.
On mounds in the fields it looks like people have made houses inside with chimneys and TV aerials, apparently the hobbits do not live here and these are wine and food storage.
