Soleil in Damansara City Mall (DC Mall) was recently awarded with MICHELIN Selected in the MICHELIN Guide Kuala Lumpur and Penang 2023. This restaurant is run by Chef Evert Onderbeke, whom you can see in action at the open kitchen.

Beef flank tartare was nothing short of spectacular. It pairs so well with the horseradish sorbet and ponzu caviar. I thought having ice cream on top and ponzu that looks like salmon eggs (it’s spherified with sodium alginate I think) was brilliant. Most importantly, flavors were well-balanced and complex. Escargots in olive oil and served with toasted brioche was also nice.

Mains was a whole lemon sole that’s longer than a fork! This is a huge serving and the fish was cooked well. Duck confit was a bit on the dry side though.

Desserts were excellent. We loved the strawberry mousse with tons of texture from feuilletine. The warm brownie with caramel ice cream was spot on too.

Lunch came up to RM371.85 for 2 pax 3-course lunch menu (RM95++/pax) and Syrus’ fish and chips. I ordered a glass of house wine for only RM25++ (normally restaurants price this RM30++). The portions are huge and we LOVED the well-balanced and complex beef tartare starter. Lemon sole was also done well. They have potential and it’s certainly worth a try! Lunch set menu with 3-courses for RM95++/pax is great value.

Thanks for watching, and see you all next video!

Something you don’t see very often in Asian cooking Pommery mustard works very well to cut through the rich flavors of the duck my only quiver with the dish was the duck being slightly overcooked the meat was stringy and lacking moisture desserts were hit though mainly had the strawberry mousse which comes

With raspberry jam lemon ice cream and few thin crumble that last bit is genius because it adds a lot of texture to an otherwise mushy dessert I love the texture of Philippine and enjoy it very much in cakes too very nicely done I was more than happy with my almond brownie
