China’s Vice Premier Liu He, head of the country’s negotiation team in Sino-U.S. trade talks, will sign a “Phase 1” deal in Washington on Jan. 13-15.
Earlier U.S. President Donald Trump said he would sign the deal with “high-level representatives of China”, and that he would later travel to Beijing to begin talks on the next phase.

The Trump administration proposed a tariff up to 100% on European wine in response to France’s digital service tax, a move that would destroy a large portion of the American wine industry. The new tariffs, which would hit a wide range of French goods, are expected to take effect in mid-January.
