You’ll have no trouble bagging a table with a view at this restaurant – because it is set in a hot air balloon.
Top Dutch chef Angélique Schmeinck uses the balloon as a huge convection oven to cook a three course meal for up to 14 guests during a 75 minute flight over the Dutch countryside.
The only person in the world using a hot air balloon as an oven itself, Angélique has visitors from all over the world desperate to try her food while they fly.
Diners start on the ground with an aperitif and finger food as the basket is prepared and the balloon fills with hot air.
Once all the guests have made their way in, an assistant cuts the ropes holding the balloon to the ground and it climbs to three kilometres above the ground.
A pulley construction transports dishes such as whole lobsters, wild sea bass with saffron sauce and spicey guinea-fowl into the crown of the balloon where they are cooked in purpose built steel baskets.
