Darley Newman shares how to get the most out of your visit to France’s renowned wine region, including archaeological marvels, historic landmarks, cultural treasures—and multiple wine tastings. She explores Bordeaux on a river cruise, taking excursions via retro sidecar and to survey wine and cuisine from across the region.

Darley starts her Bordeaux adventures on a retro sidecar tour of the city, taking in iconic sites like Place de la Bourse and the Water Mirror, before ending with wine in a locally loved square. Local guide and foodie Aurelie Chopy, who grew up with Bordeaux, takes Darley on a food tour of Bordeaux, trying canelés on St James Street, the addictive Dunes Blanches, and caviar and caviar butter at Caviar de Neuvic. Darley learns about sustainable and ethically farmed caviar from the Dordogne and sips French Champagne and vodka with Justine Rousseau.

Darley leaves the city of Bordeaux via the Garonne River to get closer to Medoc, where she cycles through vineyards on a biking tour. Guide Christine Saint Laurent explains why grapes grow so well in the Medoc and why windmills abound in the area, before Darley goes wine tasting at Chateau Malescasse. In Cognac, viewers step inside Rémy Martin, one of the big four producers, with Darley and Damian Garcia to see how Cognac is made and what inspired generations of the Remy-Martin Family to produce it in this part of Bordeaux.
