While Eddie stayed on the ship as it cruised along the Saone, Pam went on the Maconnais wine tasting excursion. En route, the bus passed a pair of geological formations, most notable of which is the jagged escarpment of Solutré Rock, considered sacred by prehistoric man with evidence of occupation dating back 55,000 years. The vineyard was on a lovely property with its own small medieval chapel, a remnant of a larger structure that was destroyed during the French Revolution.
