As we celebrate Ireland’s triumph in making it to the World Cup, we’ve selected wines that encapsulate the essence of these iconic wine regions where the stadiums are located.
Piper Heidsieck ‘Essentiel Cuvée’ Extra Brut Champagne is the crown of the box. This effervescent jewel will be the perfect way to celebrate should Ireland progress beyond the quarter final! The Champagne region is only 90 mins drive from the Paris Stadium.
For reds, Château Turcaud’s Bordeaux Rouge, a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, and is from Bordeaux, home to Ireland’s first game. We love this Bordeaux and couldn’t think of a better red to kick start the tournament with. Cahors Pur Fruits from Combel le Serre, born from the revered Malbec grape, is from the wine region local to the Toulouse stadium. Experience Minervois’ soul with Chateau d’Oupia ‘Tradition’, a blend of Carignan, Grenache, and Syrah and from the Languedoc region is a wine celebrating the Nice stadium. Lastly, Domaine Roche-Audran Còtes-du-Rhône, a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre is so incredibly moreish and is local to Lyon.
