Join us as we travel to Disneyland Paris!
After buying our annual passes on our Halloween trip it was time to use them again.
We are David and Ian, a couple of Disney vloggers from London, UK.
This time we don’t go direct to Disneyland Paris on Eurostar – we take it to Paris and then negotiate the French RER train network ourselves to Val D’Europe where we are staying at the Hotel L’Elysee for four nights.
On paper it’s a simple journey, but in reality, on a busy Saturday afternoon, it becomes quite the escapade! Leaving St Pancras International we take Eurostar to Paris Gar Du Nord. Ever wondered how to get from Gare to Nord to Disneyland Paris? Then we’ll show you. You’ll see where to go once you’ve left the Eurostar platform. Where to get your tickets. What you select on the machine, and then which local RER train lines you need to get to Marne La Vallee or Val D’Europe. It’s way cheaper than getting the direct Eurostar, but it takes a bit longer.
When we get to Val D’Europe it’s our first stay at Hotel L’Elysee. We loved this hotel – so much so that we have already been back and stayed again!
After our morning in Walt Disney Studios park riding Ratatouille and watching the amazing Micky and the Magician show [see episode 4 ] it’s now time for our lunchtime reservation at Bistrot Chez Remy.
Foolishly we get the time wrong and what you won’t see us pleading to be accommodated even though we have arrived an hour later than our booking! If only there was some way of checking you Disneyland Paris reservations on an app!
We get seated in the bright and airy section at the front of the restaurant – so no Ratatouille riders departing the ride and taking a look at us through the window at the end of the ride!
We’re not on a dining plan so it’s complete a la carte menu ordering for us today.
We opt for the confit duck leg with confit potatoes and season vegetables and the steak frites, but that is after our starters of salad and soup. We’re not that hungry but it would be rude to ensure that we are well and truly sated after our meagre and disappointing park breakfast offering.
The whole meal is simply wonderful. The theming is equally, or even more wonderful too.
We have eaten here previously and remember the food being good, but we don’t remember it being this good! We will definitely be returning again at some point – and we would thoroughly recommend it. It’s not cheap – and it might not be for picky eaters – but if you like a dish with a French leaning then this food should be for you.
It’s tricky sourcing a decent, non fruit-only dessert if you are lactose intolerant at the best of times. In France, it is even more tricky! And torturous! Who doesn’t want a buttery tarte tatin? Or chocolate mousse? Or eclair?
We want them all, but thankfully are full after two courses not to opt for any– however we do show you the desserts on the trolley – and we do show you the amazing theming in the restaurant that makes you feel that you have been shrunken down to the size of a rodent.
Colander lampshade anyone?
It’s all rather wonderful.
We also have two Walt Disney World vlog series.
One from Summer 2018 :
The other, including our travel day to Miami and the drive up to Orlando to get to Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day night, can be found here:
We’ve also recently returned from Walt Disney World where we got to see the Flower and Garden festival, and that series will be coming after this Disneyland Paris series is complete.
