Oh, brilliant! Just what we needed, another “Brexit bonus”! Fewer Britons with second homes in France after Brexit. Bloody marvellous! Well, the French will be happy
They used to be all about those fancy villas in the Mediterranean and swanky ski chalets in the Alps, but now they’re forking out for views of the Channel and hilly walks in Shropshire. Wow, how exciting!
So, according to the English Housing Survey, the number of Brits owning second homes in Europe has taken a nosedive. Used to be 51% with properties abroad, but now it’s a mere 60,000 owning a slice of French heaven compared to the glorious 89,000 back in 2008. Well, I suppose it’s better than nothing, right?
Brexit, oh Brexit! The gift that just keeps on giving. It’s like watching a tragic comedy unfold. The bureaucrats made it so complicated, even seasoned adventurers are giving up their dreams of a quaint French abode. Health insurance, paperwork, and all that jazz – who needs it? Not the Brits, apparently!
Now, they’re sticking to their good ol’ turf – the UK. It’s like they’re saying, “Right, if we can’t have those European hotspots, we’ll just settle for the ever-reliable, always-sunny, and never-dreary British weather!” Who wouldn’t want a piece of that, huh?
I must admit, the Brits do have a unique sense of humor. Opting for a second home in the UK? I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend more time in the land of perpetual drizzle and cloudy skies? Can you hear the excitement in my voice?
Well, I guess it’s their choice. At least they can proudly say they stood their ground against those pesky Europeans! They’ll trade French wine for some good old English tea, and I’m sure that’ll be just as delightful. So, congratulations, Brexit – you’ve managed to make second homes great again, but only in the UK! Bravo! slow clap
