Welcome to Vinexposium’s podcast series: Wines of the future.

Where do we come from? Where are we now? Where are we headed?

Influential wine personalities take turns at the microphone of French wine critic Gabrielle Vizzavona to answer these questions and look 50 years into the future. From sparkling and still wines, ecosystems, Vitis vinifera, wine fraud and de-alcoholization to changing tastes, innovation and technology, from the most likely scenarios for the future to the zaniest, our experts share their expertise with you.

Maureen has been sniffing her way through fake bottles for a few decades now, earning her the nickname of ‘the Sherlock Holmes of wine’. She advises the world’s top collectors in purchasing, selling and managing their collections through her firm, Chai Consulting, founded in 2005. In 2015 she launched WineFraud.com to assist both the wine trade and collectors in identifying wine fraud and counterfeiting in global markets, as well as how to authenticate fine wines. The huge database of images of both authentic and counterfeit bottles, labels, ink, corks and capsules that she has gathered assists members in authentication. Maureen more recently created Chai Vault, a blockchain-based solution for proving authenticity and the provenance of a bottle over its entire lifespan.

Three things you’ll learn in this podcast:

– How, according to the world health organization, 25% of the world’s alcohol is illegal.
– How mass fraud gained ground and is now organized by the mafia.
