Throughout the Medieval period, there were many different execution methods which were used to brutally punish a prisoner. Hanging, Drawing and Quartering was used upon figures such as William Wallace ‘Braveheart’ but one of the most shocking and strange executions took place inside of the Tower of London. George Plantagenet was the Duke of Clarence who was the brother of King Edward IV, but he is remembered best in History for being a man who was drowned in a barrel of Malmsey Wine.

George Plantagenet had committed treason against his brother Edward IV, and he had many times rebelled against him. But the time came to then deal with George once and for all, and he was imprisoned inside of the Tower of London before he was sentenced to death. But inside one of the Towers in the Medieval fortress, George Plantagenet was lowered in and out of the barrel of wine. It was a shocking execution!
