Today we talk French gin(s) tasting and making drinks with G-Vine and Citadel Gin 2 very very different spirits crafted in a completely different way.
But before let’s talk a minute about French gin’ history…
The history of French gin is closely intertwined with the broader history of gin itself. While gin originated in the Netherlands, it gained popularity in England during the 17th century. The British brought their taste to France, and overtime, French distillers developed their unique styles & flavours gin.
During the 19th century, gin production in France increased significantly, with many small-scale producers creating their own unique recipe and brands.
However, the popularity of gin waned in their early 20th century, as other spirits such as congnac & whisky became more popular.
Today, French gin is known for its complex and nuanced flavours =, which are often influenced by country rich culinary and botanical traditions.
So with G-vine we made a simple twist of the classic gin tonic using also a wonderful zero-alcohol ingredient called Seedlip
Into a collins glass pour
1.1/5oz (40ml) G-Vine
1oz Seedlip Garden
Top with Fever 3 tonic water
we called G-TONIC!!!
The second cocktail is a twist of a famous classic called “Pegu Club”
here the full spec of our cocktail “Little City”
3/4oz (20ml) fresh lime juice
1/4oz (10ml) Chamomile Grapa
1/2oz (15ml) Southern French wine
1.1/2oz Citadelle Gin
2 drops of orange flower water
Shaken and double strain in a chilled Martini Glass
