Spanish wines can be rough and not what some people like. We recently found are really interesting Spanish wine thanks to my sister-in-law’s Clementine’s Wine Gourmet. She gave us some to taste and we took a bottle home with us.
This one is En Clave de DO Monastrell Syrah. It’s a 2013 from Jumilla in southern Spain. It’s a 2013 Monastrell Syrah blend and well price under $20.
The Monastrell grape originating from Spain and isn’t very common. We hadn’t heard of it until now, but we learned that winemakers in Spain, France, California and Australia are experimenting with it.
This is an interesting dry / fruity (not sweet) combination. Watch our tasting with Lauren, our guest taster.
