Traditional Rioja was made with American Oak barrels simply because the oak was less expensive than it’s French counterpart. Juan Muga of Bodegas Muga explains this tradition and some of the changes that have happened over time. Some explanation of Prado Enea and Muga’s Gran Reserva is included.
Juan also talks about the cooperage that Muga owns and operates on site in Rioja.
Filmed on location at City Winery in Chicago.
