Street Foods in Ooty – An easy to prepare French Onion clear Soup & Veg Spring Roll
Clear Onion Soup
Ingredients:
1. Fried onion – 1/2 cup
2. Corn starch -1/2 tsp
3. Pepper powder – 1 tsp
4. Salt to taste
Place pan on flame. Add 2 cup water, when water boils add cornstarch to this and mix nicely so that no lumps be formed. When the consistency of water slightly thickens add pepper powder and salt accordingly. Serve this soup hot.
Veg Spring Roll
Ingredients for the Roll sheet :
1. Maida – 1cup
2. Salt – 1/4 tsp
Ingredients for filling:
1. Cabbage thinly sliced – 1/4 cup
2. Carrot thinly sliced – 1/4 cup
3. Beans thinly sliced – 1/4 cup
4. Garlic chopped – 2 to 3 cloves
5. Soya sauce – 1/4 tsp
6. Tomato sauce – 1/4 tsp
7. Green chilli sauce – 1/4 tsp
8. Salt to taste
9. Oil for deep frying
Method for making dough:
Mix maida and salt and make smooth dough. Keep this dough for 15 minutes.
Method for making filling:
Place pan on flame add oil. When oil is hot add chopped garlic, sliced vegetables and saute them nicely for 2 to 3 minutes. Add soya sauce, tomato sauce and green chili sauce. Mix all ingredients together. Our filling is ready.
In spring roll sheet place the veggie filling and roll them into spring roll. Use water to seal the edges of the spring roll. Fry the spring roll in oil till they turn golden brown. Serve with garlic tomato sauce.
