Today is a story about wine and a little about whining. And also the French Champagne.

Though I’m no real wine connoisseur, I know a little bit about wine. I’ve always found the particular incident where Californian wines finally gained acceptance – the so called Judgement of Paris, to be rather interesting. It’s the story that appears in the movie Bottle Shock, although it appears that parts of the story don’t follow the history.

Although he didn’t intend it, Steven Spurrier changed the face of wine just by putting the Californians and the French on the same level playing field. Of course, it also required help from George M. Taber and his article in TIME magazine.
