An investment of almost 5 million euro is about to change the entire French fish farming industry. It’s been taking a few years, but with a new technology breakthrough and key collaborations the country is set to make ultra-fresh shrimp accessible by 2024. This cutting-edge technology has the potential to make France the global leader in fish farming!

A new land-based shrimp farm in France is conserving food and water by 20% and 99%, respectively. The facility is more eco-friendly than conventional shrimp farms due to its closed-loop technology that recycles water and waste. __The farm’s shrimp are on level with those from conventional operations, and the price at which they’re sold is far lower.

__The French have traditionally enjoyed seafood, and shrimp is a particular favorite. Most shrimp farms have been built along the coast, but this new farm is being built that will be 99% more effective at saving food and water. Using a recirculating aquaculture system or RAS system , the water used to grow the shrimp at the new farm will be purified and recycled. __This also has the added benefit of reducing the amount of food needed to keep the shrimp alive and well as they develop. The RAS system can produce shrimp year-round, whereas traditional methods of shrimp farming have limited production windows.

__What is this new farm? How will it operate? And What methods will the farm use?
