When I visited Brazil back in December of 2020, one city I knew I had to hit up was Curitiba. It’s the eighth-most populous city in Brazil and is a hub for culture and economics, but it’s also a major foodie city!
In fact, Curitiba is known around the world as a gastronomical hotspot, famous for its churrascarias, Italian-style eateries, and well-known bar food!

When people ask me what the highlights of my time in Brazil were, my mind immediately jumps to Curitiba because of the amazing cuisine. From the fried crocodile tail at the famous Bar Stuart to the massive beef pasteles at Juvevê Bar Restaurante e Pastelaria, let’s just say my taste buds were very happy!
The city also has a large Italian influence, so you can also find some delicious pizza at Pizzaria Itália and even some loaded hot dogs at Gringo Dog Colombia!
But the thing Curitiba is most known for is its Brazilian barbecue. Called fogo de chao, it’s characterized by roasting meat vertically over flaming ashes. And it’s every bit as incredible as everyone says it is!
Having this mouthwatering, smoky meat along with scrumptious sides like rice and beans, grilled pineapple, spicy asado eggplant, caramelized pumpkins, farofa, and more is a gastronomical experience unlike any other!
But it’s probably better if I stop telling you about Curitiba and just show you, right? So, without further ado, I present to you, my epic 72 hours in Curitiba, Brazil!
