David Allen MW – our Wine Director tastes this rather typical modern Pomerol from Chateau Certan de May as part of a tasting conducted of 2014 red Bordeaux.

Chateau Certan de May (-full name, Chateau Certan de May de Certan) is a critically acclaimed wine estate in Pomerol on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, known for making highly sought-after Merlot-based red wines.
The vineyard covers five hectares (12 acres), with 70% planted to Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine ages for 12 – 14 months in French oak barrels, with 60-80 percent of these being new. Around 2000 cases of wine a year are produced by the chateau.
