“So for us at La Motte, we have the historical, the food, the wine and the protection of nature. Then outdoor, obviously we have such beautiful gardens, so whatever experience we will put together now, will be around bringing the outdoor in.” says Hein Koegelenberg, CEO of La Motte Wine Estate and Leopards Leap in South Africa. Hein is talking about the experience of visiting the La Motte Wine estate with its art gallery, Museum, restaurant, and wine tasting facilities and they have been recognised internationally for the wine experience and La Motte. Wine making at La Motte has been done in such a way as to keep to it a feminine touch in honour of the owner of this prestigious wine estate, Hanneli Rupert. Hein also tells the story of how they celebrated the art of the famous South African Artist, Pierneef, by putting some of his artwork on the labels of their wine collection. For Hein the wine industry in South Africa has a very exciting future and he is positive that we will be seeing more independent wine makers bringing some great wines to the market. Hear more about the sustainable farming methods at La Motte, his views on Old vine wines and his plans for the future for La Motte and Leopards Leap.
