About this space
Castle View Cabin is your own private retreat in the White Mountains of Northern NH, open May through October. The cabin is off the grid and is surrounded by forest, with spectacular views of Mt. Madison, Mt. Adams, and Mt. Jefferson. This beautiful 3 room cabin is very private, with no other buildings, roads, or people within view. It is truly a mountain getaway, close to multiple hiking trails.
The space
There is a comfy queen-sized bed in the bedroom. All linens / blankets /pillows provided. The bedroom has a comfortable reading chair. The living room has two couches. The kitchen has a table and chairs. All rooms have spectacular views of the mountains. You can lie in bed and gaze at the mountains. You can also enjoy the view from the chairs on the porch or the hammock in the yard.
The cabin is accessed by a short (330 feet) hiking trail on a gentle incline. It is rocky in places. I strongly advise arriving before dark.
If you have significant mobility issues, we advise you not to rent this cabin.
There is a well appointed dine-in kitchen, with a 2 burner gas stove, pots and pans for cooking, tea kettle, French press, drip coffee maker, stove top toaster, utensils, dishes, wine glasses, etc. We provide coffee, tea, hot cocoa, as well as cooking oil and spray, sugar, a number of spices, etc. There is a small herb garden. Help yourself!
New for 2022: a solar powered cooler.
The cabin is a dry cabin and is off the grid.
As there is no electricity, there is solar power to charge electronics and we have a charging station set up. There is also a back up battery charger to use if needed.
We have rechargeable lights, flashlights, headlamps, fan, and a few candles.
There is no running water in the cabin, but we provide water for drinking, cooking and doing dishes (and these are in the cabin). The sink has a water foot pump.
Heating sources include a wood stove and a propane fireplace.
There are umbrellas and rain ponchos for use if needed.
There is a shower tent outside that has a re-chargeable water pump and an on demand propane water heater, with a hand held sprayer. The water pressure is not high, but it will get the job done. There are bath towels, washcloths and beach towels in the cabin. I have provided body wash and 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner.
