Welcome to our channel, and thanks for being here! We are Helen and Paul, and with our young family we moved to France in the middle of 2020, during the pandemic (we bought before it became a pandemic, but completing the process took a long time), to take advantage of freedom of movement within the EU before Brexit would make this impossible. Our new home is a beautiful seven-bedroom 18th Century chateau situated in the Lot countryside.
We have no DIY skills (Paul’s a software engineer and Helen is a buyer) and have never restored a house before, so to say that this adventure is going to be a learning experience is a massive understatement, especially since we have a 2 year old daughter and a nearly 5 year old son who are always keen to ‘help’ with anything that we do.
(We also only have GCSE-level French so apparently we really, really enjoy a challenge…)
